  1. The missing Steve comment…..had some magical Cogerson dust sprinkled on it…..and up it pops…..the comment box is driving us crazy…..sorry for all the confusion…..the really sad thing is we have no idea what is wrong and how to fix it.

    1. HI BRUCE

      1 Any more magical dust?

2 I send you a post today about a correction required by you when you’ve time and it like Steve’s 1963 post earlier has vanished too.

    2. STEVE

I have just sent you a post about your “dirty rat” video but it is another one that seems to have gone into the long grass. The ever-watchful Work Horse will no doubt beat it out into the open again so watch out for it please.

      1. Hi Bob, sorry your post’s gone missing, we’ve both had missing comments today. Mine has turned up again I’m sure yours will too. I’ll keep an eye out for it. Cheers.

          1. Currently all the comments are back…..no comments in the spam box……well have to check and share Steve’s Cagney video.

  2. love the page, I saw 33 of these. I remember wearing coat and tie to see its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World as a first run with my grandfather at Dallas, Tx Majestic theatre. yea 3 Stooges and Spencer Tracy , Jimmy Durante, Mickey Rooney, Milton Berle, Jonathan Winters, Buster Keaton and three dozen others. the other movie I saw as a first run with my grandfather from Kentucky wearing coat and tie was How the West Was Won, with 2 dozen stars. I have an autographed book with most of those stars. thanks for fond memories UMR

    1. Hey bob cox…tally count….37 for Steve…..33 for you….and 29 for me. Excellent movie memory of you, your granddad and Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and How The West Was Won. Hearing stories like that have become one of my favorite parts of this website. I have those memories with my dad’s mom….but none with my two granddads. That autograph book sounds very cool….glad the page brought out those memories. I am looking forward to getting to the movies of my childhood….granted still have to knock out 1930 and 1931…but then the page will move towards the late 1960s and 1970s. Good stuff as always.

    1. Hey SteinHoF16…it is weird….the comment box seems to dislike trios of comments from one person….and half of the comments from Bob. Glad yours went through.

  3. My birth year. Some very good movies here. Love Captain Newman, M.D., The Great Escape, From Russia With Love, McLintock, The Birds and It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World. So many great things were born in 1963. Fun page.

    1. Hey SteinHoF16….thanks for checking out our latest yearly review. Right there with you on The Great Escape, From Russia With Love and Mad World. So you were born in 1963…..so you are old like me…lol. Good feedback.

  4. Let’s see… I’ve seen 37 of the 111 films listed on the chart. Looking at my files I have 62 films from 1963 in my movie collection, there are a few I haven’t seen yet.

Lots of favorites in 1963 including – Jason and the Argonauts, The Birds, The Raven, The Pink Panther, Charade, Cleopatra, Day of the Triffids, Donovan’s Reef, 55 Days at Peking, From Russia With Love, Fun in Acapulco, The Great Escape, The Haunted Palace, The Haunting, Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Kiss of the Vampire, List of Adrian Messenger, The Nutty Professor, The Sword in the Stone, Who’s Minding the Store, X The Man with X-Ray Eyes and King Kong vs Godzilla.

Top rated films I haven’t seen include – The Leopard, Fellini’s 8 1/2, America America and Lilies of the Field.

Cleopatra was easily the biggest grossing film of the year but it cost too much to make and didn’t see a profit until it was sold to TV in the early 70s. The film has more fans now than it ever did in the 60s or 70s.

I don’t think I’ve seen Spencer Tracy’s Mountain, but I did enjoy The Michael Caine Mutiny. Another one I missed was The House of the Seven Clark Gables.

An epic movie page on one of my favorite movie years Bruce, good work.

    A Big Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve
      1. Sorry for the delay in the comment….hopefully soon we will be able figure out why the comment box is so messed up.
      2. I have seen 29 of these movies……so I am 8 behind you.
      3. Huge list of favorites….I have seen 11 of the ones you listed….with The Great Escape, From Russia With Love (both through my dad’s influence), Donovan’s Reef and It’s Mad *4 World as my favorites as well.
      4. I have seen 8 1/2 and Lillies but not the other two movies….Lillies of the Field is fun movie to watch…as well as being historic….as it gave Poitier his Oscar win.
      5. Cleopatra cost a ton….but it earned a ton….as it has a nice spot on the all-time grosser list….I like the movie….but it is so long.
      6. Thanks for the kind words, vote up and the visit.
