  1. One film left out of the list: “Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins,” with Alan Arkin, Sally Kellerman, and Mackenzie Philips.

      1. Well… I guess a third option for the title for Persecution would be “The Graveyard”… titles as others have pointed out are moving targets sometimes. If you have trouble finding Persecution try “the graveyard” instead.

  2. Hello Bruce.
According to Variety “The Wind and the Lion” made $9,200,000 in Domestic Rentals.
I was wondering what average ticket price you used to get the inflated numbers. I much like
your webpage. You still have more numbers than anyone else. Thank you.

    1. Hey Lyle. Good to hear from you. Let’s see what I have. The 9.2 million rental number is from Wikipedia …..it references the Variety January 7th……but when you look at the actual Variety list (which I have in my box office notebook)….the rental number is 5.0 million. In Variety’s issue of May 4th page 174 it also puts the rental number at 5.0 million. If I had to guess….I am thinking when somebody was entering the numbers they included an adjusted gross versus a rental number. At 5.0 million that would have been about $15.2 million in 1975 dollars and $67.3 million in 2020 dollars.

FYI….Variety has The Wind In the Lion tied Bite the Bullet and Love and Death in 45th place with $5.0 million in rentals.

  3. Hello Bruce, i recently saw “the man who would be king” thanks to your website, i discovered this wonderful movie !!
i want to know if you have any box office figures for the movie “Zorro” released in 1975 with alain delon and stanley baker ; it was an international production hugely popular in Europe and i think it was also released in the US because the movie was made in english language…

    1. Hey Max….glad our website got you to check out The Man Who Would Be King….which is one of my all-time favorite movies. As for Zorro….currently I do not have much on that movie…I know here in the states it was released in 1976…..so I can check out my 1976 Variety annual to see if I missed it there…..but I am thinking here in the states it’s rental number was under 1 million. Hopefully I can find out more on that movie. Thanks for the feedback.
