    1. Hey Dan. Lengthy lists in the different comments. So married life cost you 17 trips to theaters (based on your average of 95 per year)…hope see was worth it….lol.

Changing Lanes was one of your favorites. Interesting….I will have to check that one again. I do remember thinking SLJ outacted Ben Affleck in that one.

Chicago played for 14 weeks….interesting trivia……I am not a huge musical fan….so I did not think too much of that one…..but I realize lots of people love that movie.

Thanks as always for sharing these lists….you are the man!

  3. I’ve seen 82 of the 310 films on the chart, nearly a third (actually closer to a quarter). But there are so many obscure films on the chart, and a lot of junk too. Okay I do enjoy some of that junk. 🙂

Looking at my files I have 83 films from 2002 in my movie collection.

    Favorites include –

    Blade II
    Bourne Identity ,The
    Die Another Day
    Dog Soldiers
    Equilibrium
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
    Ice Age
Lord of the Rings II -The Two Towers
    Men in Black II
    Minority Report
    Panic Room
    Red Dragon
    Reign of Fire
    Resident Evil
    Road to Perdition
    Signs
    Spider-Man
    Star Trek X – Nemesis
Star Wars II – Attack of the Clones
    Time Machine ,The
    Transporter ,The
    Treasure Planet
    28 Days Later
    xXx
    zz-China – Hero
    zz-Japan – Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla

My most watched films from 2002? Probably – Lord of the Rings II, Star Wars II, James Bond XX, Spider-Man I and Blade II.

Top rated films I haven’t seen include – The Pianist, Far from Heaven and The Hours.

Looking at the box office charts – Spider-Man tops Star Wars in the US, who could have predicted that? It must have hurt George Lucas, a reaction from fans unhappy with Episode 1.

The Two Towers ruled worldwide boxoffice. Chicago tops the UMR chart.

Another huge movie year page Bruce, nice work. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….as always…thanks for sharing your movie thoughts. 82 is about normal for this time frame. Of your favorites seem them all except for Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla. I thought I had not seen Dog Soldiers…but I just looked it up…..and it jogged my memory….as I have seen British soldiers versus monsters in a small cabin….how could I forget that….lol.

Of the critical hits you have missed….The Pianist would be the one I would recommend the most…I have seen Far From Heaven and The Hours….but both were one and done movies for me.

Attack of the Clones is considered by many (including me) as the worst of the Star Wars movies….so I am not surprised George had to settle for the bronze medal that year. Behind Spidey and LOR 2. As for LOR2….that is my favorite of the three movies.

      Good feedback as always.

  4. I have seen 14 of the top 30 domestic box office hits in the tables above. My own personal Top 15 most enjoyed films overall that year are-

    Men in Black 2
    Catch Me if You Can
    Road to Perdition
    Panic Room***
    Two Weeks Notice
    Red Dragon
    Insomnia
    Switching Lanes
    About Schmidt
    Count of Monte Cristo
    Unfaithful
    Phone Booth
    High Crimes
    One Hour Photo
    Blood Work.

The average Cogerson rating for those 15 movies is 69%, which I consider quite respectable – especially as I didn’t have The Work Horse and The Master about in those days to guide my tastes!

***Panic Room was part of a run of hits for Jodie Foster which began with 1991’s Silence of the Lambs and for now at least ended with 2013’s Elysium 22 years later. 8 of those hits crashed the Cogerson magical 100 million dollar barrier.

    1. Hey Bob…thanks for commenting and checking out our 2002 yearly review. Looking at your Top 15….I have seen all of them. One Hour Photo is a strange little movie with a great Robin Williams performance…too bad not many people saw that movie. Phone Booth is a pretty intense movie…one of the few Colin Farrell performances I enjoyed. Both Hanks movies are good ones…..though I like Road to Perdition more than Catch Me If You Can….if only for the last great Newman movie performance…though he is equally great in the tv mini-series Empire Falls…not which was last. Glad my rankings are closer to your favorites…almost 70% is pretty good. And finally…yes Jodie Foster had a good run…..but not thinking she will ever hold down the lead role in a massive hit again. I think low budget artsy movies might be in her future. Good stuff as always.

  5. I have seen 17 movies from 2002.

The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is Chicago.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is Lord of the Rings.

The LOWEST rated movie I have seen is Oleander.

    Favourite 2002 Movies:

    Chicago
    Panic Room
    About a Boy
    Phone Booth
    Road to Perdition
    My Big Fat Greek Wedding
    Die Another Day
    Two Weeks Notice
    Insomnia
    Catch Me if You Can
    The Borne Identity
    Sweet Home Alabama

Other 2002 Movies I Have Seen:

    Signs
    About Schmidt
    Adaptation
    One Hour Photo
    White Oleander

    1. Hey Flora….thanks for checking out another recent yearly review. 17 is not too bad. I have seen all of your 17 with the exception of White Olander. Loved About A Boy, Two Weeks Notice and Sweet Home Alabama….also one of WoC’s favorites. Good feedback as well.

I have been a slacker with regards to Behold A Pale Horse….but I also have a book that you might enjoy as well…..just have to get to the post office to send it. Sorry for the delay.

        1. Hey Flora….finally stopped being lazy….you have a package on the way….says it should be between 6 to 10 days to arrive….not sure if that includes weekends or not. Let me know when it arrives.
