      1. Actually I have watched very few movies in the collection I currently manage and organize. So most of my comments are unbiased and a result of research. I try my best to recognize when the crowd opinion is skewed by some sort of attempt to skew the ratings but lately I think I notice an uptick in social engineering.

        1. Hey Sidney. Thanks for the information. So your comment did get me curious about “collection I currently manage and organize”. What does that mean? If you do not mind sharing that info. As always thanks for catching my mistakes. Thanks again.

  1. I saw 57 including 16 of top 18. 10s and favorites: dark night, iron man. 10 not fave, curious case of Benjamin button.9s and favorites: wall E, what happens in vegas.9 not fave: the reader, mamma mia, Indiana jones and the crystal skull, frost Nixon. hidden gems: milk, war inc(a spoof, I love cusack), 7 pounds, the express.

    1. Hey bob cox…..always good to see your comments…hopefully your job is calming down. 57 is a solid total. I am right there with you on the excellence of The Dark Knight and Wall-E. I am not there with you on Indy and the Crystal Skull….that one ruined the entire franchise for me….and I wish they had not made it….and now part 5 is coming. Due in 2021…Ford will be almost 80 running around as Indy….not sure I am excited about that. The Express is a great hidden gem. Good feedback.

      1. no way. enjoy the indy series and pretend crystal skull doesn’t exist. I thought big nose cate and john hurt carried the acting. the idea was excellent. the story very good. character development very good. xf very good, dialogue very good , directing good, acting fair to good. this might be an 8 but I love indy, so for me a 9..
my 10s are great, this was not a 10, 9s are very good , 8s are worth watching, 7s are not bad but only to watch on rainy days when no 10s,9s, or 8s are available. below 7 generally not worth watching. below 8 accounts for 80% of movies except for discretionary viewers like myself and only 23% of my viewed are less than 7 according to letterboxd. speaking of letterboxd, I am really enjoying cogerson’s page. amazed at so few 10s but I realize this is a very small sampling of all the movies you have viewed. my letterboxd is complete and I have only seen 3079. 467 10s, 531 9s, 820 8s, 548 7s, 703 below 7.
in my quest to view the UMR top 1000 (still on site index as top 500) I only had 80 to go about a year ago. now with new releases and a dynamic page that changes constantly , I need to watch 120, darn. I love it. Yea UMR , Yea Cogerson, Yea WoC. my watchlist on letterboxd is now over 2000 thanks to UMR. when I found UMR it was 100 due to my ignorance.
if i let a bad “last in a series” ruin the series for me i would not watch the die hard series every year (except that last one that i pretend was never made) LOL. : ^ )

job is a bust my most recent boss lied to me about a promotion for 7 months. still doing same job but I see there is no future. I have my resume out there. Praise God. He will put me where I can be used by Him. even if I stay where I am (I have been here 7 years).

  2. HI BRUCE Thanks for the further feedback and the entertaining video link about Matts.

In 1988 he won 3 Grand Slams [Australian, French and US] and wrestled the Men’s tennis World No 1 spot from Lendl. A few months later he tamely surrendered it back to Ivan, and Matts was seemingly never a serious threat again. By end-1990 he had slumped to No 41 in the world and that had dropped to 129 in 1994.

Personal issues over time may have been the cause of his premature and then sustained decline: (1) he is said to have taken very hard the death of his father and Matts claimed he lost interest in tennis after that (2) Matts was suspended for 3 months for failing a drugs test at the French Open in 1995, testing positive for cocaine.

Matts, like John McEnroe and [via exceptional popularity and massive sponsorship] Federer, is one of those players who can be said to have transcended his actual on-court game as Matts is today among the most entertaining and respected sports commentators.

Accordingly the player who, being a Swede, we initially dismissed as a Borg clone is continuing to justify his nickname of “Marvellous Matts.” Celebrity Net Worth claims he has a net worth of 16 million in actual [ie unadjusted] dollars

    1. Hey…..I agree….things pretty much fell apart after that epic win over Lendl….3 Grand Slams in one year….number one in the world…I guess when he saw the view at the top of the mountain….he questioned if it was worth it….seems he is a pretty happy guy this days. Good stuff.

  3. 361 films? Whoa! Busy year for movie fans, moviegoers and the studios. How many were actually any good? I count about 100 films rated lower than 50 out of 100 on the critics chart. Which is not too bad.

Might be good to have a breakdown on the statistics for each yearly chart. How many films scored 90 or over on the critics or the UMR chart? How many scored 80 to 89 etc? What was the average rating for the top 100 films for each year? Might be interesting comparing each years chart statistics from 1930 onwards.

I’ve seen… 112 of the 361 movies on the chart. I think thats my best yearly tally so far. Looking at my files I have 129 films from 2008 in my film collection.

Top rated English language films I haven’t seen include – Doubt, Synecdoche, New York and Rachel Getting Married.

My most watched films from 2008 and there are plenty, include- Wanted, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Dark Knight, Hellboy II and Quantum of Solace.

Batman beat Indiana Jones and Iron Man at the box office in 2008. I’ll bet Spielberg was not amused. In 1989 Indiana Jones and his dad beat Batman at the worldwide box office, though Batman was box office king in the US that year.

Another epic movie page Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for checking out this epic movie page. I actually think it is too big. After the first 150…..there are not many really good movies….that leaves over 200 more movies to go through…that is alot. Granted some people use UMR for research…and those people might really love all 361 movies listed.

We have 7 more years to do…2001-2007. After we get those done….we will probably be doing some research on all the years (1927-2019)…using suggestions like yours at the top of the comment.

Of the highly rated movies you have not seen: Doubt, Synecdoche, New York and Rachel Getting Married…..you have not missed much in my mind…..granted PSH is in two of the movies….so if you like the late great Phillip….then maybe view them.

I like all of your most watched movies with the exception of Quantum of Solace….did not like that one at all. Speaking of James Bond…rumor has it….that the new Bond in Bond 25 will be a woman….not sure if I like that at all.

Iron Man took a back seat to Batman in 2008….thinking Iron Man has been driving the car since then. Thanks for the great feedback.
