  1. I jumped on this page because last weekend I went to see Resident Evil. It wasn’t short of amazing at all, but I am a big zombie fan and have followed all those films. My husband has taken me on many Resident Evil date nights. Funny that I like the films so much because I don’t care for the game. After reading this, I think it truly will make the top movies – but it is so hard because there have been so many good movies this year released. One of my favorites Madagascar 3 for the song that won’t leave your head… and the Avengers (which ironically I didn’t want to see in the first place.) I am however disappointed that One for the Money is mentioned – since it is mentioned as one of the worst. Win some and lose some I guess!

    1. Hey barbergirl28 …glad you enjoyed the latest Resident Evil….it was the number one here in North America….but where it makes its real money is overseas….where it makes boatloads of movies and this one was no exception….so I think you will be having some more Resident Evil date nights in the future.

As for Madgascar 3…..it is a movie we have seen twice now….and that number is about to rapidly increase when it gets to DVD…..my wife also had no interest in The Avengers but after seeing it…..she wants to buy it tomorrow and watch it tomorrow morning.

Sorry about One for the Money…..but at least the book was successful….thanks for the visit.

  2. I should’ve known that Taken 2 would take the cake but I was hoping Argo would be more successful. I know movies like this are more of a shoe-in for critics and awards but the fact that it was a true story intrigues me. I definitely plan on seeing it.

  3. Another very comprehensive page. Nice job. Yeah I think the PA series is starting its inevitable commercial decline, although with its budget it will still make a very healthy profit. If I was the producers, I would makes one more PA movie and advertise it as being a final chapter that will tie up all the loose ends. With that gimmick it could probably still be a hit next year.

    1. Hey nanderson500….thanks for stopping by and for the nice compliment. You are 100% correct….the PA movies will be around for awhile….it made 30 million here and 27 million overseas….and the budget was I think around 7 million dollars…..numbers like this will make PA 5 and PA 6 for gone conclusions….and I agree they will eventually make one that they call the final one and try to wrap things up……but 1o years after that a new version will come out…it will be like Mike Myers, Freddie Krueger and Jason…..they never really go away for long.

    2. Hey Alecia….I think Argo is going to be around for a very long time…..I think it is a shoe in for some serious awards and nominations….where I think Taken 2 will be quickly gone from the theaters….no way will it have the legs of Taken….but it will make more than enough for Taken 3 to be coming down the road…..thanks for the visit.

  4. An awesome job putting all this together Bruce, must have taken some time. Packed with stats on last years films.

I’ve seen 84 of the 159 films you’ve listed, not bad I suppose. Seen all the top 30. I have not seen Moonrise Kingdom or The Master.

Argo no.1? Well it did win Best Picture. But there are so many films I’d put above that movie, most of them in your top 10. 🙂

    1. Hey Steve….I have seen 114 of the 159 movies. I went back and included worldwide box ….I was amazed how much money…..both The Impossible and The Intouchables made international….over 150 million for The Impossible and over 438 million for the Intouchables.

As for Argo….critics loved, audiences loved it, Oscar voters loved it….and it grossed almost 140 million in North America….put all that together and you have the best movie of 2012….Lincoln and Django Unchained gave it some competition though.

    1. Hey Rachel….true Madagascar 3 earn more at the box office….but in my final rankings which looks at box office, reviews and awards…Les Miserables finished in 6th place for the year while Madagascar 3 finished in 15th place…..so humanity is smiling….lol. Thanks for the visit.
