2015 Movies Ranked Best To Worst

Matt Damon's latest movie, The Martian, has been added to the page.
The Martian is not only the top ranked movie here….but has reached our Top 100 Movies EVER!  But can it hold off The Revenant?

Want to know the best 2015 Movies?  How about the worst 2015 Movies?  Curious about 2015 Movies did at the box office or which 2015 Movies picked up the most Oscar® nominations and Oscar® wins? Need to know which 2015 Movies movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

So what will you find on this page? …You get lots of stats on 2015 movies.  In the following table you can sort the movies any way you want.  Want to know the current Top Domestic Box Office Hit of 2015?  Just hit the sort button on that column and you will see Jurassic World in first place.  Want to know the current Top Worldwide Box Office Hit of 2015? Just hit the sort button on that column and you will see Furious 7 in first place with Jurassic World coming on fast.  Want to know which movies got the best and worst reviews of the year?  Just hit the sort button on that column and you will see Inside Out in first place and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 in last place. You can also sort by Ultimate Movie Ranking scores…which combines box office, reviews and award.   Sorting that column shows The Martian at the top and Jem and the Holograms  at the bottom of the rankings.

Any movie that has earned over $5 million dollars in domestic box office gross is included in the rankings.  There are a few that earned less than $5 million that made the rankings…but they have a popular star attached to them….like Anne Hathaway in Song One.    We will be updating this page every week until probably next March….as we determine the 2015 Movie Of The Year.  Just so you know.  A movie maxes out earning points in the box office category…when it reaches the $200 million domestic mark.

Thomas Hardy has gotten the 2nd best reviews of the year....only Inside Out has done better.

2015 Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort 2015 Movies by the star or stars of the 2015 Movies listed in table
  • Sort 2015 Movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses (in millions)
  • Sort 2015 Movies by adjusted worldwide box office grosses (in millions)
  • Sort by how 2015 Movies were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each 2015 Movies received….this column will remain 00 / 00 until next February.
  • Sort 2015 Movies by Ultimate Movie Ranking (UMR) Score.  UMR puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

Chris Pratt is destroying box office records left and right...the reviews however are dragging down it's UltimateMovieRanking score.

My Yearly Review Pages

A wonderful companion piece to this page is from HubPages’ Kotobuijake.  He provides mini-reviews for 89 2015 movies.  A very entertaining read….his words go very well with our stats….check it out…..Kotobukijake’s 2015: Year In Review.

  1. I have seen many of these movies at the theater. So far I would put Mad Max: Fury Road, It Follows and Ex Machina as my Top 3. Other than Mad Max the other two did not fare very well at all. Still a fun page to look at.

    1. Hey Caaw32….I have only seen one of your Top 3….Mad Max….but I do want to see It Follows and Ex Machina. Thanks for the visit and the compliment….both are greatly appreciated.

    1. Hey arnieman…..thanks for the return visit….your comment was found….so I do not think it was in the wrong place.

  2. Interesting page. So do you think the “Movie of the Year” has already been released or is it still waiting to be released? For example Star Wars 7? Keep up the good work.

    1. Hey Timlin33…..well over the years of doing these yearly reviews….the top movie has always been released in the last quarter….or in the case last year…in the last week of the year. Which ever movie gets the top spot will be a box office winner…..with good reviews and at least a Best Picture Oscar nomination. Jurassic World, Avengers 2 and Furious 7 will NOT get a Best Picture nomination. Inside Out might do it……but I think a movie link Bridge of Spies or Leonardo’s latest movie will end up with the top prize. Hope that answers your question.

  3. Who would have predicted that Jurassic World would be the biggest film of 2015? Or that Furious 7 would beat Avengers Age of Ultron at the worldwide box office? I’m still shocked.
You’ll have to update this regularly Bruce old chum, I fell into that trap when I did my top films of the year poster page at mid year, though I did get lazy and skipped a few weeks. 🙂
I’ve seen 24 of the 71 films you’ve listed so far. Of the Moviescore top 10 I haven’t seen the animated films or Pitch Perfect 2. Critics top 10 I’ve seen just 4 and worldwide box office top 10 I haven’t seen Home or San Andreas.
I enjoyed both Jurassic World and Avengers Ultron, Furious 7 was a lot of fun too though tinged with sadness. Good work compiling all this Bruce.

    1. You are underestimating Arnold and the Terminator franchise. By the end of the year Terminator Genesysis will be a classic and Magic Mike will be Forgotten Mike.

      1. Hey ArnieMan….I like Arnold….so I hope he does have another blockbuster in him. I still think Magic Mike XXL will be well remembered come the end of the year….it will be fun to watch though. Thanks for stopping by.

    2. Hey Steve….I agree who would have thought Furious 7 would out perform Avengers: Age of Ultron….but both will not hold off Jurassic World much longer…..and then Star Wars will be here at the end of the year. Updated this page will be fun….but will also be a pain too.

Wow my tally is 6…..5 of which I saw in theaters…the only one I watched on DVD was Maps of the Stars….looks like I have some work to do. As always thanks for stopping by.
