2015 Movies Ranked Best To Worst

Matt Damon's latest movie, The Martian, has been added to the page.
The Martian is not only the top ranked movie here….but has reached our Top 100 Movies EVER!  But can it hold off The Revenant?

Want to know the best 2015 Movies?  How about the worst 2015 Movies?  Curious about 2015 Movies did at the box office or which 2015 Movies picked up the most Oscar® nominations and Oscar® wins? Need to know which 2015 Movies movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

So what will you find on this page? …You get lots of stats on 2015 movies.  In the following table you can sort the movies any way you want.  Want to know the current Top Domestic Box Office Hit of 2015?  Just hit the sort button on that column and you will see Jurassic World in first place.  Want to know the current Top Worldwide Box Office Hit of 2015? Just hit the sort button on that column and you will see Furious 7 in first place with Jurassic World coming on fast.  Want to know which movies got the best and worst reviews of the year?  Just hit the sort button on that column and you will see Inside Out in first place and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 in last place. You can also sort by Ultimate Movie Ranking scores…which combines box office, reviews and award.   Sorting that column shows The Martian at the top and Jem and the Holograms  at the bottom of the rankings.

Any movie that has earned over $5 million dollars in domestic box office gross is included in the rankings.  There are a few that earned less than $5 million that made the rankings…but they have a popular star attached to them….like Anne Hathaway in Song One.    We will be updating this page every week until probably next March….as we determine the 2015 Movie Of The Year.  Just so you know.  A movie maxes out earning points in the box office category…when it reaches the $200 million domestic mark.

Thomas Hardy has gotten the 2nd best reviews of the year....only Inside Out has done better.

2015 Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort 2015 Movies by the star or stars of the 2015 Movies listed in table
  • Sort 2015 Movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses (in millions)
  • Sort 2015 Movies by adjusted worldwide box office grosses (in millions)
  • Sort by how 2015 Movies were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each 2015 Movies received….this column will remain 00 / 00 until next February.
  • Sort 2015 Movies by Ultimate Movie Ranking (UMR) Score.  UMR puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

Chris Pratt is destroying box office records left and right...the reviews however are dragging down it's UltimateMovieRanking score.

My Yearly Review Pages

A wonderful companion piece to this page is from HubPages’ Kotobuijake.  He provides mini-reviews for 89 2015 movies.  A very entertaining read….his words go very well with our stats….check it out…..Kotobukijake’s 2015: Year In Review.

  1. Good to see The Martian at the top of the Moviescore chart Bruce, it’s one of my favorite movies of the year. I also enjoyed Mission Impossible 5, Kingsman, Mad Max, The Avengers, Ant-Man, FF7, Jurassic World and Spectre.

Inside Out will win the Best Animated Film Oscar next year, not a big fan, probably my least favorite Pixar movie to date. Last year’s winner Big Hero 6 was much better,

I’ve seen 54 of the 152 films you’ve listed on the page. Most recently Pan, Trainwreck, The Scorch Trials, Pixels and The Lazarus Effect, which was pretty bad.

Spotlight no.2 on the critics chart, I’m curious to see why. Voted Up.

    1. The Martian has an excellent chance to crack the all-time Top 100 in my database….and even crack the Top 30 with some serious Oscar love. Inside Out has that Oscar locked up…though I was surprised that the Golden Globe people gave it very little love. I am slightly ahead of you in the tally…as I at 56….but the previews for #57 are going in the background as I type this one…as I about to watch The Wedding Ringer. I am curious about Spotlight too. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

  2. I see that Fifty Shades of Grey did quite well. Just as a curious question – HOW MANY MOVIES COME OUT EACH YEAR – AN AVERAGE??? Interesting page.

    1. Hey BERN1960….thanks for stopping by. 50 Shades did well at the box office….but it got destroyed by critics and audiences….as it has one of the lowest rated movies on the critic/audience column.

Let’s see…..in 2014 698 movies earned some money at the box office….in 2013 it was 687…..in 2012 it was 665…..in 2011 it was 602…..and in 2010 it was 536….so that is an average of 637.60 movies per year from 2010-2014. Halfway through 2015….and 323 movies have earned some money at the box office so far. Hope that helps.

      1. THANK YOU. INTERESTING INFORMATION. NOW ALL I NEED ARE FACTS ON RIDUALS THAT ACTORS RECEIVE, ha, ha, ha.

        1. You are welcome BERN1960…..I will one day find out all of that information that you are so interested in.

  3. Hi

I haven’t seen a lot of movies this year but I did see Jurassic World last week. I thought it was ok but I’m sure the script writers really stretched themselves with the recycled theme of kids with 2 adults in the jungle. I can see why Avengers and Furious 7 have done so well but I prefer to see a non franchised movie do well. Like American Sniper last year and before that Gravity.
What I would love is some low budget movie to break out and break all box office records. Now that would be something.
I remember in 1990, Pretty Woman, Ghost and Home Alone weren’t expected to do as well as they did but it’s a long time since that’s happened to the same level. But here’s hoping.

    1. Hey Chris….seems almost every movie these days is a sequel, a reboot, or a computer animated movie. Looking at the top ranked movies you have to go to #10 Kingsman…before you reach a movie that does not fall into that category.

I am right there with you about original movie doing well….actually looking at the top ranked movies that topped my yearly reviews…..each has not fallen into the above groupings….2011 The Help, 2012 Argo, 2013 Gravity and 2014 American Sniper…..I think that means that we have a yet to be released movie that will be huge and ORIGINAL….Bridge of Spies?, Snowden? The Revenant? So I think there is hope. Before we know it…it will be Oscar time again. As always…thanks for the visit.

  4. Sorry you did not like the latest Terminator movie….it looks like it has been 3 movies since the last good Terminator movie.
