Very sad to hear this. I was a fan of the Uncle series back in the sixties. And he was in a lot of good movies over the years–The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt, The Towering Inferno. He was an excellent Casca in Julius Caesar. And was always a great villain. One role which pops into my mind is his turn as a murderer on Columbo.
Hey John. Very sad indeed. I have not seen The Man From Uncle but I am well aware of that tv show. I like him in all the movies you mentioned. I will have to check that Columbo episode. Thanks for the visit.
Yes sad news. I grew up watching The Man from Uncle and in reruns during the 70s. I laso liked him Magnificent Seven, Towering Inferno, Battle Beyond the Stars and as the main villain in Superman III, he has the best line in the movie “I asked you to kill Superman and you couldn’t do that one simple thing.”
RIP Napoleon Solo.
Hey Steve…..sad that the last of the original cast of The Magnificent Seven is no longer with us….some movies are so great it seems like it is a part of us….so it is bothersome when that door closes forever. I feel that way about The Great Escape…as time has taken one star after another…..live long and prosper David McCallum (one of the last living members of that cast). I forgot about his role in Superman III….have not seen that Richard Pryor comedy in years.
Sad news indeed. I am actually shocked he was only 83. Seems he should have been older. Kirk Douglas would have said he was still a baby.
Hey Stein….yes indeed very sad news. Good old Kirk will be 100 next month…I think…let me check….yep December 9th is his birthday. RIP Mr. Robert Vaughn.
