So we started doing these pages at the end of January 2011. Bruce Willis was our first subject. The very first page can be seen below the table. The following link was archived 8 days after we started this movie blogging ride. So at the end of 2013….we (WoC and myself) decided to take our movie pages and start our own website. This Bruce Willis Cogerson Movie Score Page….sounds how it looked back then. We actually think the presentation is better…..but you can not sort the information. In the end we pick sorting over beauty. Did we make the right decision?
And finally in March of 2015 (mainly because off horrible customer service by our web provider) we moved to our new resting place….UltimateMovieRankings.com.
Here is how I discovered that these pages were not lost.
Cogerson – “Wow….some website call Box Office Madness seems to be using our stats for their pages.”
WoC – “What are you talking about?”
Cogerson – “Well….I was searching Jerry Lewis Box Office Grosses on Google….and our website was the 4th search result. While Box Office Madness was coming in at #2. When I clicked their link…I found a page that lists all of Jerry’s movies by adjusted box office totals.. they are slightly different than our numbers…..but generally the same exact numbers and in the same exact order.”
WoC – “Well check out their site on the Wayback Machine”.
Cogerson – “What are you talking about…Wayback Machine?”
WoC – “It is a website that archives websites…they have over 300 billion websites archived. You can see how long they have been posting their Jerry Lewis box office numbers….maybe you are using their numbers?”
Cogerson – “Well…their Jerry Lewis page was published the day after his death…while our Lewis page is over 2 years old….so I do not think I need the Wayback Machine for that”.
Anyway…..hearing about the Wayback Machine started me thinking about our old websites. One of big regrets was when we were moving from Hub Pages to Cogerson Movie Score. One of the first people we moved was Cary Grant. When it came down to transferring comments…my first thoughts were….”ah….I will just leave the comments”. So I deleted the Hub Page Cary Grant and all the comments…and sent the stats to Cogerson Movie Score. About a week later, I realized I wanted to bring the comments to the new site….but it was too late to say the Grant comments. That error has bugged me for the last 2 and half years. Well…with the help of the Wayback Machine….today…I was able to find those comments and bring them back home.. It feels good to fix a mistake.
One finally blast from the past…..oh the memories….this is when Steve Lensman and I were ruling the Classic Movie Forum at Hub Pages….almost all the featured pages were written by us.
Love the tour of UMR. I have to agree the design of the second page was much more colorful. Which I liked. Very interesting looks at your progress. I like you had never heard of the way back machine.
Hey Helakoski….glad you liked this historical tour of our web pages…I am still amazed that this information is still out there….years after I deleted those pages so many years ago….I guess WoC is right….once it goes on the internet…..it is out there forever. I like the colors in Cogerson Movie Score as well….but I like the sort button even more. Glad I was able to let you become aware of the wayback machine. Thanks for the visit and the kind words.
Nice finding all this stuff Bruce, though some of your members might be wondering why the sudden interest in Cary Grant, he’s been dead for decades! 😉
Yeah we had some fun times at Hubpages while we were there, we were getting plenty of comments and we were celebrating old Hollywood. But nothing lasts forever, the moderators there were getting more and more fussy and were trying to take control of our pages, telling us what we could or couldn’t do. I hated the interference and eventually gave up posting there.
Hey Steve…I am amazed how they have been able to save so many webpages…..even more amazing to me is the fact that the links still work. Now I have to figure which other comments I left at HubPages so many years ago. The missing Grant comments…had been bugging me for years…..the missing Clooney comments…had not really been an issue….lol. Pretty sure there are a couple that I forgot…I will have to go back and check comment counts on the oldest pages.
As for our HubPages days…they were fun….and a very good stepping stone….to bigger and better things for the both of us. WoC still talks about how frustrated I would get with the moderators….from labeling pages duplicates when they were not to trying to fix errors that were not errors….to …..stopping here….don’t want to get fired up before going to bed.

1 Even long before the AFI Legends lists I recognised Cary Grant as one of a handful of THE greatest figures in cinema. AFI simply confirmed natters by ranking Cary 2nd to only Bogie and just above – but nevertheless above – other Greats like Jimmy Stewart, Brando and Astaire.

2 I therefore enjoyed pursuing 2 of the 3 links provided, the 3rd one being unavailable for access for some reason.
3 Two things in the links particularly pleased me. (1) The base years for the inflationary calculations are quoted . I have mentioned in recent posts how important that quotation is in my opinion. (2) Just as Old Cantankerous liked under playing I like under statement and here is a corker from the 1st link: ” I would say that my favourite actor of all time are Sir Michael Caine, Bruce Willis and Archibald Leach.”

2 My favourite singer is probably John McCormack the Irish tenor who like Cary had a long career at the top back in his time and I recall acquiring a McCormack LP – remember those? – called The Voice across the Ages. Therefore I liked the tagline for the Cary Grant links ” 3 Cary grant pages Through the Years.” and appreciate those links being shared with us.
