Thanks for sharing your stats for the most popular pages. I’m glad to see there are plenty of classic artists and yearly reviews that are still in the top 30. I count 17 that focus only on the studio system era. It should be interesting to see if the top 30 do in fact change.
Hey Flora…..as we get deeper and deeper into doing pages on the movie stars….the less the star has a fan base. That is one of the problems with doing some many pages for so many years. The first couple of years at HubPages…..the subjects were…Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn and all the legends…..now the subjects are stars like Dan Duryea, Blake Edwards and such….people that had memorable careers yet do not bounce to mind when you mention movie stars and directors.
Long way of saying the legends done years ago….are still the most popular pages on the site….as their fan bases are huge…..people like John Wayne, Gregory Peck, James Stewart and Bette Crawford….so I think 17 is on the low side…..as people like Padukone and Rockwell will probably fall out. The most interesting name is #30 Daniel Radcliffe…..I guess the fan base of Harry Potter grows everyday. Thanks for checking out this list.
For the last few years…..we listed the Top 50 UMR pages of all-time on the right side of the page….well….since the rankings rarely change…we figured it was one than time to get rid of that and put up a page that should change a little more…..so we now show the Top 30 UMR Pages of 2018.
Observations…of things I find interesting with these rankings.
1. Our Marilyn Monroe page which used to be one of the most popular UMR pages has really lost steam….it is still a top 10 all-time page…..but when looking at the current most popular pages…it barely (97th) cracks the Top 100.
2. That page joins our James Bond, Star Wars, Animated Disney Movies and Christian Bale pages that used to be our big view getting pages that are now gathering dust.
3. Only three pages written in 2018 have managed to crack the Top 30…..Deepika Padukone, Sam Rockwell and JCVD (ok he was written in late Decemeber).
4. Our JCVD page is by far are our most popular recently written page….cracking the Top 10….it never cracks our daily trending pages….but always seems to be on the outskirts of making that page. Thank you Mr. Johnson for that suggestion.
5. Our All-Time Ticket Selling Movie page has pushed major view getters (Marvel & Pixar) aside and taken over the Top Spot.
6. Black Hawk Down Cast Then and Now continues to roll along….and to think….it has not a single statistic on the page…..maybe I should take note of that….lol.
7. Our award winning World War 2 Movie Marathon page has found an audience….I reluctantly added it here….mainly because it is still one of the few Cogerson pages left at HubPages…but pleased it is getting some traffic.
8. For years….the views and comments are the only thing that kept us going……so every once in awhile…I like to take a minute to talk about the UMR stats.
