Hello Steve,
still hoping that Mr. Cogerson will follow your beautiful video on Ida Lupino with her own UMR page, so I will save my comment, tally count, and chit chat for that special day 😉
But I would like to thank you for doing this video, and I must say you have dug out some beautiful posters!
Lupino meet Lupino. 🙂
Seeing your name here at the UMR was a constant reminder that I should do an Ida Lupino video some day and finally here it is. Thanks Lupino glad you liked it. I don’t think Bruce will have much difficulty coming up with some data on Lupino. Is she on the request list?
Lupino was more than just an actress she was a fine director too, and the first woman to direct a film noir in Hollywood (The Hitch-Hiker).
Steve,
I put in a request for Ida Lupino a while ago, but honestly I think Bruce has been very generous in honouring my requests, so I looked up a lot of information on various pages on her costars and apart from a few movies I have the information I was after. Her WB years really were the peak of her career, and a lot of information can already be found on these pages. Yes, Lupino has been a director, too- I’ve seen all her theatrical outings, including The Hitch-Hiker.
Hey Lupino. Been researching Lupino’s film career for a little bit….sort of at a crossroads….as I do not think I can find many more box office grosses……but we do have 39 Lupino movies ready to go if you are interested. https://www.ultimatemovierankings.com/ida-lupino-movies/
As I said before, Thanks a lot! You are not really missing many of her movies from her peak period…Life begins at Eight Thirty, Ladies in Retirement, and some of her 50’s movies like the dreadful Jennifer, Women’s Prison, Strange Intruder- but those were made when her career as an A-lister was already over. So, how important are the stats for movies with bit parts or cheapies with bigger ones when you can’t find any information on them? I am quite happy with what you have put together already 🙂
Hi Bruce, your tally of 3 is even worse than my tally of 6, poor Ida. 🙂 Flora’s was a lot better – 20. It’s been ages since I last saw High Sierra and They Drive By Night. I don’t think I’ve seen Junior Bonner. Thanks for the vote, comment and share, much appreciated.
My comment from Steve’s video channel.
“Have not seen many of her movies…but she is someone I am very aware of….seen 3 of the movies listed….but they are all in the Top 10….Junior Bonner….though it has been years since seeing that one. They Drive By Night…..one of the two Bogart/Lupino movies that I have seen….and your #1 High Sierra….which I thought was ok. Good posters. Good video. Voted up. Shared.”
