Hmmm I’ve seen far worse films than Skyscraper in the past 12 months, 50 Shades Freed and The Nun for example.
Yes that super jump by a crippled Rock in the last half hour was pretty ridiculous but I did like the design of the skyscraper, the visuals were pretty nifty. I own it on blu-ray 3D.
Other good bad films I enjoyed last year that others, including the Cogerson clan, might turn their noses up at are –
Rampage (Dwayne Johnson again, a silly film and more enjoyable than Skyscraper)
Venom
The Meg
Pacific Rim 2
Peppermint (a better vigilant film than Bruce Willis ‘Death Wish’, and more violent too)
Solo (started off dark and gloomy but got better as it went along but I never once believed this was the same Han Solo from the main Star Wars saga, it didn’t help that the actor didn’t look remotely like a young Harrison Ford)
Tomb Raider (I enjoyed the film but young Alicia was miscast as Lara Croft IMO and it needed a touch of the supernatural)
Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our Worst Movies of 2018. Maybe the fact that it was promoted as the next great Die Hard movie rubbed me the wrong way. I thought the entire storyline was dumb. I did like the design of the building…..but that was about it.
I agree Rampage was better than Skyscraper. I want to see Peppermint. Solo gets a big “it’s alright” from me. I liked Alicia as Lara Croft…..I wish it would have done better…..instead I feel the movie was a one and done series. But….another reboot will come in 5 or so years.
Good movie thoughts. Thanks for sharing them….even if they differ from my opinion…..it is what makes things interesting.
So you run this website and still have time to watch 551 movies? That seems like it would be difficult to do. So congratulations on that. As for worst movie of 2018? Saw all three Fifty Shades movies in theaters, the third was the best of the three, but none of those movies could be considered good. Since it is so fresh in memory, I thought Welcome To Marwen was horrible. Action Point was a rough one to seat through, not sure why I saw that in theaters. I will be sure to avoid Skyscraper, which won’t be hard, since not a huge fan of the Rock. Happy New Year. Thanks again for my star on the other page.
Hey Helakoski…..well….I do not sleep much….it makes it easy to do a lot if sleep does not get in the way. I actually walk on a treadmill while watching most of those movies. Getting steps and watching movies are two of my addictions. I have a FitBit…..since…I got my FitBit in 2013…I have walked 18,402 miles. To walk around the world is 24,901 miles…..so I am 73.90% done in my walk across the world.
Sorry went off on a tangent. I agree…Fifty Shades Freed was better….but still really bad. I have not seen either Action Point or Welcome To Marwen….Marwen looks interesting…..but your mini-review as me willing to wait until I get watch it for free…the power of my local library.
Sam’s school….had a movie night…Skyscraper was the movie they picked to watch…..those kids loved the movie….so if you are 11,12 or 13 the Rock delivers…..if older, and have seen Die Hard you will know how truly awful Skyscraper is.
Thinking of libraries, New York City had 92 libraries in 2018 you could borrow DVD’s from but in 2019 they are reducing it to 28 because they and the mayor say DVD’s are obsolete. Of course Mayor Da Idiot also would like the main branch on 42nd street to eliminate all books, just have computers and coffee bars. Libraries should be like places to hang man.
1 JURASSIC BARK (the unadulterated worst animated film of all time, worse even then Sea Monsters from 2017).
2 NUN, THE
3 SUPER TROOPERS 2
4 ALIENS ATE MY HOMEWORK
5 ELIZABETH HARVEST
6 HERIDITARY
7 HAPPY PRINCE
8 OPEN HOUSE
9 INSIDIUS : THE LAST KEY
10 SHERLOCK GNOMES
Hey Dan. Thanks for sharing your list of worst movies of 2018. I have seen 4 of the 10 you listed. I am happy to say….that I have not even heard of Jurassic Bark. As for your #2 worst movie…I was shocked The Nun made so much money…I thought word of mouth was going to destroy that movie….because it got horrible audience scores….yet…it kept bringing in the money. Open House has a not so stellar 3.3 rating….so I think many feel the same way as you. And finally….even though Michael Caine is in it….Sherlock Gnomes almost made my worst list…..it even bored my kids. Good list of bad movies.

Good feedback.
