Our UMR Review of Toy Story 4

I wish I could say I loved this movie. The reviews have been awesome. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were awesome movie experiences. I liked Toy Story 3 but did not love it. I feel Toy Story 4 is the worst of the bunch. Still it is a good movie. Some of the animation is jaw dropping excellent. Movie manages to pull the emotional strings very well. All the voice actors shine in their roles. That is the good stuff.

Now some of the things I had issues with. The ending is a downer, and not the direction I wanted the franchise to go in. With the exception of Woody, the movie leaves the toy family we have come to love on the sidelines. Buzz Lightyear is played off as a dope for huge parts of the movie. The grand finale action scene is just dumb, and has been done before and better. My number one complaint is the lack of joy this movie has. Everybody is sad and not very happy. Somebody has forgotten that toys are fun…..not depressing people that need to make life altering decisions.

Final thought: A good movie, but a weak movie compared to the other chapters in this awesome franchise.   6/20/2019
