HI BRUCE Thanks for the detailed feedback.
As you know I am a Great Peck fan but MacKenna’s Gold is one of Greg’s films that I didn’t like. I see that you give it a 57% rating above and IMDB is more respectful with 68%. As your figure of $56 million illustrates it did not do well commercially, but then Greg’s career was in the box office doldrums at that point [1969].
Luckily the massive blockbuster The Omen was just round the 1970’s corner which was Greg’s ‘Godfather’ revival if you like – ie two of my guys came back strongly at the box office in the seventies!
Also among actresses my Barbra virtually [as you would say] “owned” the seventies with What’s Up Doc, Way We Were etc. with an overall adjusted domestic whopping $2.2 billion Cogerson gross over 9 movies. All in all not a bad decade for me personally!
