UMR Movie Review of Scoob! (2020)
I think you can blame the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the failure of this movie. Rather than making a good Scooby-Doo movie, the producers seem more interested in almost randomly throwing all the Hanna-Barbera characters in the story. Mark Wahlberg as the Blue Falcon is funny in this one, but he and his entire team seem so out of place in the movie. There are a couple of laughs in the movie, but this is a movie that never gets going. It also has our Scooby-Doo crew spend much of the movie apart from each other…not what I want in a Scooby movie. 2.5 stars out of 5.0 stars.

I can’t believe I’ve actually seen 69, but the numbers have gone out the window the past few months. Of your top 5 I have not seen Greyhound or Palm Springs. I didn’t care for the Outpost, and found the Gentlemen disappointing. The Invisible Man was surprisingly good but I felt it could even have been better. The 2 films I liked the most this year were The Last Full Measure and The Banker which was supposed to come out last year till some producer got scandalized so they sold to Amazon. It stars Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson. I also enjoyed Bad Education which HBO bought before it was released and now I guess is classified as a TV film. That starred Hugh Jackman and Alison Janney and was filmed in Roslyn, New York about 10 miles from where we live.
Hey Dan…so far I have seen 24. My 2020 page has 67 movies, about 60% before the pandemic derailed the movie industry and about 40% of movies like Scoob! that were supposed to be released in theaters but instead got a VOD release. So far, my favorites of the year: Palm Springs, Greyhound, The Outpost, The Invisible Man and The Gentlemen.
So how many 2020 films have you seen?
