There does not seem to a middle ground when it comes to Adam Sandler’s movies.  Either you love them or you hate them.  It seems the older you are the more likely you are to be in the “hate them” club.  Whether you are a Sandler fan or not there is one thing that can not be argued…..Adam Sandler movies generate some serious box office heat.  Adam Sandler (1966-) got his first big break when he began appearing on Saturday Night Live in 1990.  After appearing in some supporting roles in movies like Mixed Nuts and Airheads, he took on the lead role in Billy Madison (1995).  The success of Billy Madison opened the door for almost 20 years of non-stop box office success for Sandler.

His IMDb page shows over 75 acting credits since 1987. This page will rank Adam Sandler movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television appearances, cameos and his straight to DVD movies were not included in the rankings.

  • Sort Adam Sandler movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort Adam Sandler movies by yearly domestic box office rank.

  1. Looking forward to watching jack and Jill I have somehow managed not to see it yet. That should be a fun movie even if many people strongly dislike that movie.

    1. Hey Alladream74…the power of the Sandman….it seems critics really dislike this movie and audience reaction is very weak as well…but it is already closing in on the 30 million dollar mark….still trying to figure out why Al Pacino took the part in this movie….I will be waiting for DVD to watch Jack and Jill….it is the only Adam Sandler movie that I have not seen.

  2. I was looking at some of the first comments, pretty funny. I did not know that Funny People was your favorite Sandler movie. It is kind of depressing.

    1. Hey Bry….I do not know if you realize this but some of the young kids that liked his first movies like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore…have actually grown up and now have kids of their own….lol. I just watched Just Go With It….so I have actually seen all of Sandler’s movies except for Jack and Jill….and of that 24 movies that I have seen….I like Funny People the best….even if it is a little depressing

      1. Well, Funny People = Not that funny. And yes I realize that some kids who like his first movies have kids now, and made the parents of those kids, GRANDPARENTS.

        1. Hey BryRog57….well just because Funny People is not a normal Sandler comedy…it is still a good film. I wonder if you will be making Natalie watch Happy Gilmore and Waterboy when she is older…or have you already started the Sandler education already?

          1. I am not saying that Funny People was not a good film, I am just saying it wasnt that funny, so they probably shouldnt have called it Funny People, because they were not funny people. Although a few scenes were pretty funny, overall though not high on my list. I am getting her going on Sandler even though it is movies like Bedtime Stories. I am slowly molding her into a well rounded movie gower, we watched Terminator 2 just the other day. When she is old enogh to comprehend who Kyle Reese and his importance I will sit her down to watch the first one.

          2. I understand BryRog57….Funny People is not his funniest movie by far….but I think it is his best movie and possible as close to the real Sandler as any other role he has done so far. Wow Natalie got to watch T2…that is awesome…I hope you covered her eyes on some of the more bloody scenes….thanks for stopping by again…

    1. Hey Victoria Trix….my two oldest boys loved Adam Sandler movies growing up….so I find that I have seen all of his movies except for Just Go With It. I think his movies are good movies or very bad movies. Makes you wonder how Jack and Jill be when it comes out….thanks for the comment it is greatly appreciated

  3. Thumbs up for the Wedding Singer due to Drew Barrymore. That’s it for Adam and I. My kids think he’s funny but then again they also think The Office and The Community TV shows are funny and they think I’m not. Says a lot for their taste. Well done with the page cogerson!!!

    1. Hey Sunshine….well Mr. Sandler is an acquired test….I find some of his movies entertaining….but I find many of them unbearable…and very hard to finish…Little Nicky, Eight Crazy Nights and Don’t Mess With Zohan….jump to my mind immediately. But you have to acknowledge the man is money in the bank when it comes to box office success.

  4. I can’t stand Adam Sandler. I just have a negative reaction every time I see him. I’ve only seen him in a 4 movies I could tolerate: Spanglish, Bedtime Stories, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, and 50 First Dates, and even then, I would’ve been happier if someone else had had the lead (like Stanley Tucci! 😉

    1. Hey justmesuzanne you are not alone in your dislike of Sandler. My wife refuses to watch anything with him in it….my older boys(23,19) think he is Sir Laurence Olivier. Personally I think he is ok, especially when he stays away from toilet humor. I thought Click Me, 50 First Dates, and Funny People were pretty decent movies…thanks for stopping by.
