Alan Arkin Adjusted World Wide Box Office Grosses
Check Out Steve Lensman’s Alan Arkin You Tube Video
Hey Bob…interesting about Bing and his thoughts on billing. It is always good to have somebody to share the blame with. I do not think many blame Sandra Bullock or Tom Hanks for the failure of Incredibly Close…..both had supporting roles…..the movie was a downer….the movie had a weak climax…..but it still got a Best Picture Oscar nomination….which some would say it was a success….as that “Best Picture Nominated Movie” can never be taken away. Good stuff…as always….and now I go to work.
HI BRUCE
Thanks for feedback
I think we are agreed that there is no absolutely perfect way of properly apportioning box office grosses in a double or multi-star vehicle and that your way is as good as any and better than most.
We would I’m sure also agree that Grant was a bigger box office attraction than say Deborah Kerr or Robert Mitchum but by how much bigger is that the case and how do you translate the difference into share out of box office figures.
As always good talking to you. Some day you will have to take a week off off work when my wife’s away and you and I can sit all day arguing the toss about the likes of Loy, Joel, billing matters and dividing up of grosses !!! That’s be some fun, wouldn’t it?
saw 18 including 14 of top 15 , missed the muppet movie , darn. one 10, wait until dark . 2 favorites both 9s and hidden gems: grosse point blank (the ultimate homecoming spoof) yea cusack(s), Americas sweethearts (a movie about a movie about a movie) great cast yea cusack. I saw the Russians are coming 4 times one day, my mom forgot mom at the cinema
Hey bob cox….18 is pretty impressive. 14 of the Top 15 is even more impressive. The Muppets is the only one in his Top 15 that I have missed too. Wait Until Dark is a classic. Gross Pointe Blank is a very good movie….my favorite line is ….
“They all have husbands and wives and children and houses and dogs, and, you know, they’ve all made themselves a part of something and they can talk about what they do. What am I gonna say? “I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork. How’ve you been?”
I saw American Sweethearts in theaters….it was ok…..but I really liked Walken’s crazed director in that one. Sounds pretty rough….your mom leaving you in a theater…and watching the same movie 4 times…at least it was a comedy….lol.
Good feedback.
