  1. Another sad loss. Seems that film people have been having a rough time of it lately. Olivia de Havilland, Carl Reiner and now Alan Parker.

  2. Evita is Alan Parker’s masterpiece! Madonna was never better in a movie. She was perfect in that role! RIP Alan Parker

  3. Just discovered this news when I saw your headings. I actually knew him slightly back in another lifetime back when I lived near Potter’s Bar. I have followed his career with great interest over the years. Sadly his last movie was almost 20 years ago. Midnight Express and Fame were his most famous movies, but I always thought his masterpiece was The Commitments. His only misfire was The Road To Wellville. Despite making so few movies, he has left behind a nice legacy. Tipping a couple pints tonight in his honour.

    1. That error has been fixed. Other than that I think we did well. As two of three Cogerson daughters put this page together, with some phone support from Cogerson.

  4. He was a versatile director. As versatile as he was pretty sure he was not in The Big Parade or The Singing Fool. Both movies were made years before he was even born. RIP

    1. We took those two movies away. We were feeling proud of ourselves until reading your comment and getting a phone call from our dad.

  5. The Turkish government has never forgiven him for Midnight Express. That movie destroyed the Turkish tourist trade. Rest in peace Alan Parker.
