    1. Hey Dan. Thanks for providing these lists on Alexis Smith. Interesting that you saw her on Broadway….even if Platinum bombed. Mike Mazurki has the honor as most frequent Oracle co-star…but I think Bette Davis and Kirk Douglas are a much more impressive names…even though they only made two movies with her, versus the three Mike did. As for the second list, 27 Oscar winning is pretty good. Lots of movies with Jane Wyman…I had not noticed they had made so many movies together. Good stuff as always.

  2. I have seen 20 Alexis Smith movies, including 15 of the top 16.

The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is Gentleman Jim.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is The Age of Innocence.

    Favourite Alexis Smith Movies:

    Gentleman Jim
    The Constant Nymph
    San Antonio
    Rhapsody in Blue
    Conflict
    Thank Your Lucky Stars
    The Adventures of Mark Twain
    Night and Day
    Dive Bomber
    The Two Mrs. Carrolls
    Here Comes the Groom
    The Woman in White
    Split Second

Other Alexis Smith Movies I Have seen:

    Any Number Can Play
    The Young Philadelphians
    The Doughgirls
    Montana
    Of Human Bondage
The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane

    1. Hey Flora. Thanks for checking out our Alexis Smith page. Tally count….9 for me and 20 for you. 15 of the Top 16 is pretty impressive. I have seen your missing movie, The Age of Innocence. I do not remember her part at all. That is not one of my favorite Marty Scorsese movies. Of your favorites I have seen 5 of them…..including Conflict which I just saw this weekend. Of your others…I have seen The Young Philadelphians and The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane. Surprised a Martin Sheen movie is not on your favorites list. Good stuff.

  3. Thank you for this overdue recognition of one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of all time. She co-starred alongside some of the most important male stars of the Golden Era: Flynn (4 times), Gable, Bogart, Holden, Grant, etc. She never got the recognition until she went to England and did The Sleeping Tiger with Dirk Bogarde; and The Philadelphians late in her film career.
She finally gained the critical acclaim and praise when she did Broadway Theater. However, even after this triumph, she was cast in some indifferent films.
She was especially memorable in Gentlemen Jim and San Antonio with Errol Flynn.
Thank you Miss Smith for your glorious performances that have brought happiness and joy to several generations of film, television, and theatregoers.

    1. Hey Frank. Thanks for the great feedback on Alexis Smith. I had noticed that her co-stars were some all-time legends. I wanted to include The Sleeping Tiger…but like when I was researching our Dirk Bogarde page I was unable to find box office information on that movie. I was not aware of her later Broadway success, but between the research and comments I am glad that is now in my memory bank. Good stuff.
