Want to know the best Angelina Jolie movies? How about the worst Angelina Jolie movies? Curious about Angelina Jolie’s box office grosses or which Angelina Jolie movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Angelina Jolie movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.
Angelina Jolie (1975-) is probably one of the most famous people in the world….but how did she get there?……let’s see….first of all Jolie is the daughter of Oscar® winning actor, Jon Voight….not a bad start. She has appeared in over 30 theatrical movies and has won an Oscar® and 3 Golden Globe® awards. She has had box office success with two Tomb Raider movies, two Kung Fu Panda movies, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Maleficent. She is an UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. She has been in some high profile relationships with actors Billy Bob Thornton and some guy named Brad Pitt. And of course she is a very sexy woman. So other than good looks, box office success, acting ability, friends and family in high places and being a humanitarian …I just can’t figure it out.
Her IMDb page shows over 55 acting credits since 1982. This page will rank Angelina Jolie movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings.

“For years my oldest son Bryan, was convinced he was going to marry Angelina Jolie. Instead he ended up married a Jennifer Lawrence look alike…lol. I have seen 30 of these movies. Not many are favorites….but I will go with # 17 Beowulf…looks amazing, #10 Mr. and Mrs. Smith…fun movie but not a great movie and #22 Pushing Tin…..good movie that I re-watch pretty often..nice cast…Cusack, Jolie, Blanchett and Thornton. Voted up and shared”
Hi Bruce, Mr and Mrs Smith was the peak of her beauty, she looked a lot thinner in Wanted just 3 years later. She was very effective in action movies, both Wanted and Mr and Mrs Smith are big favorites of mine. Salt was good too but should have been better.
Your 30 beats my tally of 23 out of the 35 on the video. Thanks for the comment, vote and share, always appreciated.
Apart from her 1982 debut being too late to qualify her for any potential Master Adulation in his 1983 book [and being only 7 in the film wouldn’t have spared her from The Master’s lash if he had thought that warranted], Angelina ticks to one degree or another many of the boxes that are markers of considerable success in movies.
1/Her own Cogerson page
2/In Bruce’s Top 20 [at no 20] Greatest Female Legends 1950-2010.
3/Still going strong at 44 having tamed for now The Curse of 39.
4/A worldwide Cogerson adjusted gross of about $7.9 billion over 26 movies for which we have worldwide grosses – average around $300 million per movie.
5/Reputed to have £100 million salted away in the banks.
6/Is in IMDB’s list of 43 greatest actresses of all time albeit at No 43 – but many great legends of yesteryear are not included at all.
7/56 acting awards and 111 nominations including 2 Academy Award wins and one Oscar nomination.
And now as the splendid icing on that magnificent cake – a Lensman video, which will lead us on to Part 2 later.
NB: I see that among your current batch of ladies my Cameron is by far and away the 2nd leader of the pack with a whopping 1000+ views, indeed one of only 4 among your last 20 subjects to breach the magical 1000 views, the equivalent of Bruce’s legendary $100 million barrier! Maybe someday one or two others on this site will join me in recognising her for the mega star Cam was when she was in her heyday.

MY pick of your Angelina Jolie POSTERS are as follows: 1/Hell’s Kitchen 2/By the Sea 3/Lara Croft 2003 4/two for Alexander 5/In the Land of Blood and Honey 6/Original Sin 7/Taking lives 8/1st both for Salt 9/two for Beowulf 10/Bone Collector [my fave Jolie movie] 11/foreign language one for Good Shepherd 12/1st two for Maleficent 13/Unbroken 14/ the set for Unwanted 15/First they Killed my Father /16 Beyond Borders. I could go on!
I was spoilt for choice too in selecting the best STILLS but on balance I go with the following 1/ very sexy opener 2/Lara Croft 2003 3/ Alexander 4/with Depp 5/the very sexy one from Lara Croft 2001 6/with Coppola’s nephew 7/Shark Tale 8/Sky Captain 9/very 1st raunchy one for Mr and Mrs Smith 10/Wanted 11/Girl Interrupted 12/Changeling
Also, I greatly enjoyed ALL the stills and posters for the Kung Fu Panda franchise which [though the films themselves are not my cup of tea] lifted my personal rating of your video to 99% – a truly remarkable collection of pictorials throughout.
You and WH agree on 4 of Angelina’s Top 6 best reviewed movies. That’s a good agreement ratio though he doesn’t think much of Girl Interrupted which is your no 2 but a lowly 15th with WH. Awful savagery – it looks like Joel’s puppet wants to be “a real boy”! First They Killed my Father which is your no 6 is totally ignored in WH’s charts.
You will note that 2014’s Maleficent is Angelina’s highest grossing movie worldwide in the table above raking in a whopping 835 million approx. in adjusted dollars. The sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil [aka Joel’s Lover] is scheduled for release later this year.
Hi Bob, thanks for the comments, review, generous rating, info, trivia, stats and comparison, always appreciated. Glad you liked the posters and stills.
Bruce and I both have 35 Angelina Jolie films in our charts, he includes Jolie’s first film in which she has a small role as Jon Voights 7 year old daughter. I ignored that and went for First They Killed My Father, which she directed. Maybe Bruce couldn’t find the stats for that film. Anyway she’s directed 4 films, so far, and they are all on my video.
I also included the TV movie ‘Gia’ which won her a Golden Globe and got her good reviews. It’s not on Bruce’s chart which means there’s a double title on the chart above, if you switch to alphabetical order you can see that Life or Something Like it is on there twice. If Bruce is reading maybe he can fix it.
Her movie career slowed down a lot in the past decade, what with her family problems and various humanitarian efforts around the world. At 39 years of age she was awarded an honorary Damehood by the Queen, which raised a few eyebrows I’m sure. She may be as mad as a hatter but I like Jolie, especially in her action roles. I hope she makes more before she gets too old.
One film scored 10 out of 10 from my sources and that was Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, good film, well acted, but I think one watch was enough. Eight more films scored 8 out of 10.
She was very effective as a girl with mental problems in Girl Interrupted, it won her an Oscar and jumpstarted her career, suddenly Hollywood chiefs were falling over themselves trying to sign her up for everything.
Top rated at IMDB is Changeling, no.1 at Rotten Tomatoes is Girl Interrupted.
“I’ll make it real simple, I’m a 36-C. In the video game, Lara Croft’s a double-D. In the movie she’s a D. We split the difference… (the movie) Lara is much more athletic, and she has smaller breasts, but she’s still Lara Croft, so there.”
HI STEVE: Thanks for the usual thoughtful and comprehensive response to my own post, including plenty of explanations. As you say Life or Something Like it is listed twice, which throws out my worldwide gross calculations as against one of those duplicates WH quotes a global gross and against the other he doesn’t, but the difference is not by much so I’ll let it pass.
As matters stand, then, WH seems to be quoting 34, 35 and 37 entries but has listed only 34 if one of the duplicates is deducted and is quoting differing figures for the duplicates. It all reminds me of the episode of Rowan Atkinson’s TV comedy Blackadder Goes Forth [1989] in which Stephen Fry’s General Melchett orders Rowan’s Captain Blackadder to organise a camp variety show for the soldiers and then tears strips off him because of the following cock-ups-
1/” Blackadder you’ve advertised the Silly Twits as Two Silly Twits but THREE of them are prancing about on the stage; and
2/Your billboard mentions a three-legged panto horse but the beast you’ve let loose is jumping about on TWO legs! WHAT are you playing at Blackadder?”
By the way, you and WH should perhaps consider changing the title of Angie’s Lensman video and Cogerson page, as she now officially calls herself Angelina Jolie Pitt. Your kindred spirit site The Numbers has already made the switch. That woman sure knows her place unlike that actress narcissist who years ago refused to show respect by changing her professional name to Gimme More McClane! Anyway keep safe.
Hi Bob, this is the pitts! Does Angie still call herself Jolie-Pitt after the split with Brad? tsk tsk Shouldn’t it be Angelina Jolie-Split instead? 😉
Bob, looking at my channel you’re right Cameron Diaz has been popular. I wonder sometimes if the choice of video picture helps attract more views. A viewer might be more tempted to look at a video if Diaz is flashing her legs on the front page, than just a mere head shot. Or maybe it doesn’t matter at all.
I watched Diaz recently on Sky Movies in the comedy Bad Teacher and thought she was hilarious, Jolie is a better actress but could she have pulled off Bad Teacher as effectively as Diaz? Comedy has always been underrated.
HI STEVE
I think you’re right as far as the actresses are concerned. Cameron’s nearest rival among the females for views of your videos is Sharon Stone [with about 400 more views than Cam at present though Sharon’s video has been twice as long in release] and of course in her heyday Sharon was the Queen of the “legs flashers”!
HI BRUCE:
I am just about to blitz Steve with a couple of Angelina posts and as usual have been drawing a lot on your stats.
However your numbering here is confusing me. 34 films are mentioned in the lead-in; I have manually counted 35 films; two entries are numbered 33; and another entry is numbered 37. I take it there are not two or three films missing?
great thanks for sharing this.
Hey Jolie Mother….you are very welcome.
