I was happy to see that Viva Las Vegas got decent critical ratings from your critics. I find it the ultimate “Elvis” movie with teamed for the only time with someone who could give him a run for his money in talent.
What stands out for me taking an overview of Ann-Margret’s career is that her best roles were in two made-for-TV movies in the 1980’s. She was Blanche in the 1984 A Streetcar Named Desire and did excellently, with Treat Williams her Stanley. He was okay, but Brando is a tough act to follow. Her best role was in The Two Mrs. Grenvilles as the poor girl who marries rich and ends up ironically getting away with murder. It was based on the 1950’s Woodward scandal. Claudette Colbert as her cynical mother-in-law won a Golden Globe for this one.
Hey John…..interesting mini-reviews on Ann-Margaret’s television movies. Since box office is needed for a formula to work…I have stayed away from all things involved with television. But both of the movies sound like they are worth checking out. So Treat Williams did not outdo Brando in Streetcar Named Desire…..who would have thought that…lol.
Glad to see Colbert got a Golden Globe for one of her later roles. Viva Las Vegas is a fun movie to watch….and is easily one of my favorite Elvis and Ann-Margaret movies to watch. Good feedback.
Ann-Margret has terrific CD music albums released since 2001 including a Grammy-Nominated Gospel album, a Big Choir Gospel album, and a Christmas album! I saw it today!! Loved it!!!
AM has always flow under the radar, never a temperamental primadona type, never bad or negative press, always professional, never demanding or difficult. Never threatened to not come out of her Dressing room if her nose was not picked at the same time by everyday by the same cameraman. She was Pleasure on the set of the two Mrs. Granvilles as she remained in Character AND if you can believe it, she’s even more beautiful in person.
Hey Gary A…..great comment…that I really enjoyed reading. Sounds like seeing in person was a great memory….thanks for sharing it. Looking forward to her movie with Michael Caine next year….thanks for stopping by.
The original sex kitten of the 1960s. Sexy as hell. Not thinking many would think she would still be making movies as we close in on 2020. Another fine page.
Hey Stein….she has had an awesome career…..it should be fun to see her and Michael Caine in a movie next year….between they have almost 120 years of film making history. Thanks for the visit.
