  1. I didn’t think that Annette Bening had a very good part in American Beauty as her parts were far too short! My favourites are The Kids Are All Right, Being Julia, American President, In Dreams & The Siege. I also really enjoyed The Women as Annette’s part was excellent plus there were no men in the entire film – just the wee male baby at the end. Annette is a gorgeous woman & an exceptional actress!!!

    1. Hey Mara….thanks for the thoughts on Annette Bening…..I just saw her as Gloria Grahame in Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool…a very good performance from her. My wife is right there with you in regards to American President…as that is one of her favorite movies. The Women like the original is an entire female cast…I like the remake…but feel the original with Crawford and Shearer is a better movie. Thanks for finding our Bening page.

  2. Hi

One of the best female stars of the 90s, a wholly unique and individual personality that comes across everytime she is on screen. I would say my favourite movie of hers would be Grifters. I think it was brilliant casting and very haunting.
I also loved Bugsy, it’s a bit overlooked because of Silence of the Lambs and Thelma and Louise, but she was fantastic in it.
And of course American President. One film I didn’t enjoy was The Women. To be fair it wasn’t bad, but a pale imitation of the 1939 original.
Love Affair, another re make and sadly another disappointment. But apparently her and Hepburn got on famously. I’m hoping that out of her next few films, she’ll give us something special and who knows, Oscar could come calling.

    1. Hey Chris. She was one of the biggest stars of the 1990s…appearing in critical hits and box office successes. I thought she was going to win the Best Actress Oscar for American Beauty…..but Hilary Swank shocked me with her win that year. I need to revisit Bugsy….I borrowed it from my mom about two years and it has been sitting on my DVD rack waiting to be re-watched. The Women was ok…..with Bening having one of the best parts. I think she has at least one more Oscar nominated performance left. Time will tell….as always thanks for stopping by.
