Anthony Hopkins Movies

Want to know the best Anthony Hopkins movies?  How about the worst Anthony Hopkins movies?  Curious about Anthony Hopkins box office grosses or which Anthony Hopkins movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Anthony Hopkins movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences and which ones got the worst? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

I have received not one, not two but three requests to do a movie page on Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins (1937-), best known as Anthony Hopkins. The first time I noticed Anthony Hopkins was in his role in A Bridge Too Far in 1977. In a movie loaded with stars, I thought his role as Colonel Frost was one of the best parts in the movie. His most famous role is playing Hannibal Lecter in the Silence of the Lambs trilogy. He has appeared in over 60 movies since 1968. He has received three Oscar® nominations for Best Actor (Silence of the Lambs, Remains of the Day, Nixon) and one Oscar® nomination for Best Supporting Actor (Amistad). He won the Oscar® for Best Actor in Silence of the Lambs.

His IMDb page shows over 135 acting credits since 1965. This page will rank 69 Anthony Hopkins movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort Anthony Hopkins movies by co-stars of his movies.
  • Sort Anthony Hopkins movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort Anthony Hopkins movies by yearly domestic box office rank

  1. Anthony Hopkins is a wonderful actor. Have enjoyed many of his films. The Elephant Man was such a sensative role. Must admit I have never seen Silence of the Lambs…The Mask of Zorro was very good too. Your HUBS are very informative – thank you…The Edge was on TV the other day – shot in Alaska – enjoyed seeing it as my grandson lives up there on the base – he is in the Air Force. Lots of snow…

    1. Silence of the Lambs is a very intense movie…I guess a movie about a serial killer that likes to eat his victims might not be everybody’s cup of tea….I will have to check out The Edge….I was not aware this movie had such a following….thanks for stopping by

  2. Cogerson, this page is fab and shibby. I love the chart, timeless and evergreen for sure. I also enjoy Anthony Hopkins and his role in lector is also one of my favs. I think I am still in surfer world. Aloha. voted up twice, is that possible?

  3. “I hope never to see Fletcher Christian again. Unless it is to see him hanged.”

I watched The Bounty recently, another superb performance by the great Anthony Hopkins.

Another excellent hub Cogerson. Looking at Hopkins top 10 highest scoring films I have 9 of them on DVD, I gave Remains of the Day a miss I could never get into those Merchant-Ivory snobby Brits having a tea party sort of films. 😉

Silence of the Lambs deserves to be no.1. Hopkins was hammy in Dracula but I enjoyed the film and bought it on Blu-ray. The Edge is excellent and worth checking out, music by the maestro Jerry Goldsmith. I haven’t seen The Elephant Man in years, I should pick it up on Blu. Incredible film

    1. Steve….Hopkins is great in The Bounty….I would put his Captain up against the other two Captains any day of the week. I thought if you lived in England, Merchant-Ivory movies were required by law to watch…..lol….The Edge is getting lots of comments…I have never seen it, I will have to check it out….as always thanks for commenting and reading
