Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.
Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993), an Oscar® winning actress, appeared in 26 movies from 1951 to 1989. While filming a small part in 1951’s We Will All Go To Monte Carlo, she was spotted by French novelist Colette. Colette picked Hepburn to play Gigi in the Broadway play Gigi. The success of the play led to Hepburn’s first starring role….1953’s Roman Holiday. Roman Holiday was a hit and earned her the Oscar® for Best Actress. From 1953 until the rest of her life she was an internationally star.
Although she only made 16 movies during her peak of stardom (1953-1967)….check out some of her legendary leading men….Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday, Humphrey Bogart in Sabrina, Henry Fonda in War and Peace, Gary Cooper in Love in the Afternoon, Fred Astaire in Funny Face, Burt Lancaster in The Unforgiven, James Garner in The Children’s Hour, Cary Grant in Charade, William Holden in Paris When It Sizzles, Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady, Peter O’ Toole in How To Steal A Million and Albert Finney in Two For The Road. I can only imagine the stories she could share of her experiences behind the scenes with all of these incredible actors.
My personal favorite Audrey Hepburn movies are 1963’s Charade and 1966’s How To Steal A Million. I have seen 17 of her 24 movies to date.

Hi Cogerson – As I started to read this article I was thinking – hmm I don’t know too much about Audrey Hepburn – I am so glad you included the interesting facts at the end. I have seen her in a few of her movies but I was born in 1967 so she was a little before my time
Hey RealHousewife…I am glad my possibly interesting facts were in fact interesting….lol. Her peak was before we were born(fellow 67 baby)….but she had a great 14 year run…and she has stood the test of time. If I were to watch one of her movies…it would be Charade…it co-stars Cary Grant….and is sort of a Hitchcock type thriller with some funny moments….and great chemistry between Grant and Hepburn…thanks for stopping by.
While she’s never been one of my top favorites, she was a talented actress. My favorite film of hers was “My Fair Lady” which I think I’ve seen a dozen times. The thing I remember most about “Breakfast at Tiffanys” was her singing Moon River.
Rob
Hey Flora…..wow Rooney must be pretty bad in the Breakfast at Tiffany’s if he earns the mute button.
Actually if you look at the peak of her career…from her first starring role in Roman Holiday till Wait Until Dark…you have seen 14 of 16 movies…which is 88%…which is pretty impressive….especially when you consider her first 7 movies were basically bit parts and the the 4 movies after the retirement are not really remembered. So that only leaves you Green Mansions(which you say you don’t want to watch) and Two For The Road.
Of your Top 5…I have seen all of them….and I would rank them Charade 1st, Wait Until Dark 2nd, Roman Holiday 3rd, Sabrina 4th and My Fair Lady 5th.
As always your votes and comments are greatly appreciated…..poor Sidney Poitier he almost got voted in on the first poll….since then he has not come close to winning the poll.
You haven’t seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s yet even though you have a copy? oops. Be prepared to be offended by Rooney’s role. Since I’ve seen it, I always press mute when he is on screen as I still love the rest of the film.
I’m a big Audrey Hepburn fan. I haven’t seen most of the films I haven’t seen because I don’t have access to them.
I have seen 8 of her top 10 box office hits. I have seen 9 of her critic’s top 10 films. I have seen all ten of her top 10 movie score hits.
Overall, I have seen 14 movies of hers so far. That is over 50% of her films. The lowest on the Movie Score list is #17: Paris When it Sizzles.
The ones of these that are easy to find that I’ve yet to see are her later films like Always and Robin and Marion made after her retirement from a full time movie making. Green Mansions is one that I’ve never been interested in seeing.
My top 5 in alphabetical order are:
Charade
My Fair Lady
Roman Holiday
Sabrina (odd being distantly related to an actor playing your love interest while meanwhile being in love with your other leading man)
Wait Until Dark
(Despite Moon River being my favourite Movie ballad, B.A.T. cannot make the list due to Rooney playing a Japanese in stereotyped form)
Here are the movies I have seen in Movie Score Order:
My Fair Lady
The Nun’s Story
Roman Holiday
Sabrina
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
War and Peace
Wait Until Dark
Funny Face
Love in the afternoon
How to Steal a Million
The Children’s Hour
The Unforgiven
Paris When it Sizzles
I voted for Holden as I don’t think Poitier will win and and I am partial to the studio era. However, I have seen a lot of films of the other two, so I will have something to say regardless.

I wouldn’t avoid Green Mansions if it was on TV at a time when I wasn’t busy. But I don’t plan on looking for a copy while meanwhile I would love to see others of her career.
Hey Flora Green Mansions (I had never even heard of it before doing this page) is considered her worst movie made during her prime….and if you use the sort button on the Movie Score table you will see only Bloodlines is ranked lower by critics and audiences. But every great actor/great actress has at least one movie they probably should not have made) is considered her worst movie made during her prime….and if you use the sort button on the Movie Score table you will see only Bloodlines is ranked lower by critics and audiences. I think I have only seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s and My Fair Lady out of all of her movies – but I had a thought that if there were a time machine I would like to see her in a movie with George Clooney – I think they would go very well together!
Hey Azure11…thanks for stopping by and commenting on my hub…I will be watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s sometime soon….and I thought Mr Fair Lady was a pretty good movie….it was a hit and won the Oscar for Best Picture. I think George Clooney and Audrey Hepburn would have made a sweet couple….a time machine could offer some great screen teams….Cary Grant and Julia Robets pop into my head right away.
I did watch Charade, but it confused me so much. I personally love Wait Until Dark. Anyone who can play blind convincingly is a real actor. I echo Delores Monet’s sentiments about old Hollywood. It’s alot more interesting so I voted for William Holden.
Hey Alecia, well if you ever watch Charade again…..here is a simple rule….Audrey and Cary Grant are the good guys no matter how bad things look towards Grant….everybody else is bad, lying most of the time and trying to get the money.
As for Wait Until Dark….Hepburn was awesome in the role….she got some of her best reviews in her career for that movie….sadly that was pretty much the end of her career…as she went into retirement after 1967..
I agree the old Hollywood is more interesting than current Hollywood….I know it is harder finding the information for older movies…but when you find it…it is like finding a small treasure of information. Thanks for stopping by.
