The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. Beatles And Alumni Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies any way you want.

  • Sort which Beatles member was in the movie.
  • Sort movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort movies by yearly domestic box office rank
  • Sort movies by how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each movie received.
  • Sort movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

  1. Cogerson, congratulations on completing the Joel project.

i saw all 4 of the beatles movies. i am amazed at george’s producing career. i saw 5 others. beatles movies are bad movies but fun. hidden gems mona lisa, life of bryan. time bandits is on watchlist.
my sister saw the beatles live in Dallas,TX september 1964 at age 11.

i hope your next project includes completing oscar winning best actors and actresses.

    1. Hey bob cox…..thanks for the congrats….not sure when I decided to do this project…but I know it was years ago….it has been weird that the Joel book has been sitting on my book shelf for the last week unused. Bob would say that is a good thing. George had a very successful movie producing career…I think his bad experience on Shanghai Surprise made him stop wanting to spend his time making movies. As for my next project…yep…knocking out those Oscar winners is on the plate…only one Best Actress Winner to go.

  2. I know you probably did not plan it this way, but you have published this the day before John Lennon would have turned 80 years old.

I have seen only 4 of these movies, all in the top 10.

    Favourite Beatles Movies:

    A Hard Day’s Night
    Monty Python’s Life of Brian
    Yellow Submarine

    Other Beatles Movies:

    Oh! What a Lovely War

    1. Hey Flora…you are correct….this page coming out a day before Lennon would have turned 80 was a happy accident. I had planned on sharing this page on Facebook….but I got so busy I still have not done that. Tally count: 11 for me and 4 for you. I have seen all 3 of the Beatles movies that you have seen. Good feedback as always.

  3. Saw Hard Day’s Night at the Regency Revival Theater in the city after watching it on TV. My mother brought me to see Help! back in 1965, why I don’t know. She could have been their mother at the time.

I actually liked Caveman back then, no 10 best but it was entertaining.

    1. Hey Dan… good memories of you, The Beatles, the 1960s and your mom. As for Caveman….I remember kids in school talking about that movie…and then it played on HBO regularly….this was when HBO was king. I remember getting the monthly guide and would rip up the bill…..and take out the guide…and make my plan for the month. Good feedback as always.

  4. And we are DONE! Years ago I thought it would be a good idea to do an UMR page on every subject in Consumer Reports’ Rating the Movie Stars (1983). That book written by Joel Hirschhorn rated 410 stars. Well…this Beatles movie page is the 410th and final page. Now I will take a deep sigh of relief…..now onto to the next project.

As for the movies listed here….I have seen 11 of the movies. 2 of the all Beatles ones….Yellow Submarine and A Hard Day’s Night. None of the John Lennon movies…heck I had not even heard of the John Lennon directed Up Your Legs Forever. I have seen Paul McCartney’s only other movie…Give My Regards To Broad Street (great soundtrack…ok movie). 4 of the Ringo Starr movies (counting Give My Regards….). Caveman is a guilty pleasure. And finally, 6 of the George Harrison produced movies with Mona Lisa and Time Bandits being my favorites.
