We normally concentrate on ranking movies….but we thought it would be fun to do a Music Ranking Page. The first thing we did was do a quick mathematical equation that would help statistically rank songs. Parts in that equation included how many weeks the song stayed in the Top 40, what the songs peak position was and how long it stayed at that peak position. Our main sources of information came from Joel Whitburn and his many Top 40 Hits books.
This is actually the second musical page we have attempted. The first was on Elvis Presley. That has surprisingly turned out to be one of our most popular pages. Will lightning strike twice, probably not, but this musical page goes well with our Beatles movie page. So that was our process. The following table ranks 49 Top 40 Beatles songs.
Beatles Songs That Made The Billboard Top 40
The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.
- Sort Beatles Songs by our UMR rank
- Sort Beatles Songs by the title of the songs
- Sort Beatles by the date they reached the Billboard charts for the first time
- Sort Beatles by our Ultimate Movie Rankings Score
- Sort Beatles by the peak position on the Billboard charts
- Sort Elvis Presley Songs by the number of weeks on the Billboard Top 40
You know Joel Whitburn has also published books on the competing trades of the time, Cash Box, Record World and Radio and Records. On Cash Box, I Saw Here Standing There, # 14 on Billboard, only got to # 100. There are some big discrepancies between some of the trades. They usually though have songs peaks in the same area,
Great UMR Page
OMG! Cogerson. You have been busy as hell! So many new pages and a music page too? My mom loved the Beatles, I had an ex-wife that loved them too. I have grown to enjoy their music as well. As for their movies? They are legends of the music world.
