I saw 9. he is one of my young greats. favorites: 12 years a slave (10), dr strange (10), hobbit desolation of smaug (9). a ten but not a favourite is imitation game. lots of nines and I did not see 4 of top 9. the hidden gem is august osage county ( do not watch if family dysfunction and yelling disturb you). several great performances. I found tinker tailor soldier spy noteworthy. his work in the Dunkirk 2004 documentary tv and Sherlock tv. convinced me of his greatness and nothing has changed that.
Hey bob cox……Tally count….Me 19, Steve 16 and you at 9……all decent totals. I liked both of your 10s….but neither would rank that high in my mind. As for August Osage Country….a good movie but what a downer. Glad his television work has shined on him…..seems he is having a good career shifting from movies to television and back. Good stuff as always.
Benedict Cumberbatch, a good actor, always worth watching. I became a fan from his BBC Sherlock series. He is excellent as Stephen Strange in the Marvel comic book movies.
I’ve seen 16 of the 22 films on the list. Favorites are – Star Trek Into Darkness (an excellent Trek villain), Dr. Strange, Infinity War, Thor Ragnarok and The Hobbit 2 & 3 (great voice work for the dragon Smaug).
I’ll recommend ‘Starter for 10’ which features early roles for Cumberbatch and James McAvoy both looking very young in this fun movie about “a university student who wins a place on a University Challenge quiz team.”
Good work Bruce. Vote Up.
Hey Steve
1. I think his double whammy roles of Holmes and Strange are making him a big international star.
2. I liked him in the Infinity Wars…..but was not a huge fan of the Doctor Strange movie.
3. Tally count…..16 is awesome…..it is only 3 behind my even more awesome total of 19….lol.
4. I had no idea I had seen so many of his movies.
5. I agree with you about his voice work as Smaug….especially in the 2nd part of that trilogy.
6. Starter For 10….is one of the three Cumberbatch movies that I have missed….I will have to check that one out.
Thanks for the feedback and the vote up.
HI BRUCE
Good to see you profiling this massively talented thespian of perhaps no great box office worth at the moment but highly entertaining to watch nonetheless.
Until you produced this page I hadn’t realized Benedict had mad so many movies. I never saw him as Holmes on TV but watched him in the movie The Imitation Game [unfortunately consigned to Art House release over here] and was just very recently enthralled by his performance in the TV mini series Patrick Melrose.
I think that the only movie on your list above that I can recall seeing him in [Imitation Game aside] is The Other Boleyn Girl about Henry 8th’s famous Anne and her sister.
This new page is most welcome and is therefore “Voted Up!”
HI BRUCE Apologies for spelling Benedict’s name wrong in my earlier post
Hey Bob….I fixed that error…..so now this comment makes no sense….but I am your sure comments are used to that….lol.
Hey Bob
1. Thanks for checking out our latest page.
2. Seems his career has really taken off the last few years. His Doctor Strange role will put him in the spotlight for at least two more blockbusters.
3. I have not seen him as Holmes or in the mini-series Patrick Melrose….but I will check them out eventually.
4. He was awesome in Imitation Game. Other roles I really enjoyed of his would be Black Mass (as Depp’s brother), his Star Trek role and The Fifth Estate (but based on the numbers…not many agree with me).
5. Thanks for the feedback and the Lensman Vote Up.
