I’ve seen more of Betty’s career than you have Bruce, but not a lot.
Of course I’ve seen The Greatest Show on Earth and Annie Get Your Gun.
I recently saw Incenedary Blonde (however the first word is supposed to be spelled…) for the first time on TCM.
RE: Annie Get Your Gun:
Saw her talking with Robert O at a festival about her leaving Hollywood after this movie experience where everybody ignored her.
Someone should have told her that Garland was the first choice and when Betty got the role – a NON-fellow MGM contract player –
Judy’s friends felt betrayed.
Hey Flora….thanks for checking out our latest page. With me coming in at 1…..I made it easy to beat my tally count. The Greatest Show On Earth is the one I watched…..but I want to Annie Get Your Gun and Miracle on Morgan’s Creek. Sounds like her personal life was not the easiest…but as you know we only concentrate on the movies….but it was sad how she ended. Interesting about her making the Judy friends upset…that might be why after her greatest year (1952) she only made one more movie. As always thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Yes, we concentrate on the movies. I only mentioned this as it was filmed in front of a live audience.
She did a TCM interview when they were still producing 50 minute Private Interviews or whatever they were called.
I miss them.
I believe I have seen about 12 of her films.
My favourite is Annie Get Your Gun.
Hey Flora….well your 12 destroys me, Steve and Bern1960….as our combined total is 11….with 5 for Bern and Steve….and me bringing 1 to the party. Those Private Interviews sound very interesting…I am sure at some point TCM will show them again. Annie Get Your Gun is high on my list of movies to watch.
I remember now what that program was called:
Private Screenings.
When they did Hutton’s Private Screenings they started recording her while she was just sitting down – before the “real” interview started – so that she would get over her shyness in front of the camera.
TCM really knows how to make their star guests comfortable.
Hey Flora….very cool!. Hopefully they will make a return visit to TCM.
Oh wow…you’re wonderful! I am going to copy and paste the link in the Betty Hutton musicals thread down in the Musicals sub-forum.
Thank you!
Hey TopBilled! glad you found and liked your requested page. Thanks for the kind words and for sharing the link…both are greatly appreciated.
Love this page. There are not many places that still talk about the Great Beth, which is my nickname for her. This is the best movie-star site with Betty Hutton music and full length movies what a treat for her fans http://www.satinsandspurs.com/ Highly recommend Great Beth check that one out too.
Thank you Allyson….glad you found this page. The “Great Beth” indeed had an incredible career. I found that website when I was researching Hutton…actually that is the site I found how she decided on “Hutton as her last screen name…..thanks for sharing the link and for stopping by
Another fabulous look at another almost forgotten star. I would have never guessed that her movies were as popular as Streisand and Cruise. Very informative UMR page. Thanks.
Hey Stein….thanks for stopping by and checking out our latest. I was equally surprised when I saw her average gross per movie….and yes it does put among some of the greatest of all-time. I fixed your error you made in the comment. 🙂
Not one of my favorites, but she was really good in The Greatest Show On Earth. I have seen 5 of the movies listed. Nice page, keep up the good work.
Hey Bern1960….thanks for checking out our latest page….The Greatest Show on Earth is the only Hutton movie that I have seen….so you have seen 5 times more Hutton movies than me….to me that makes you a huge Hutton fan…..lol. Thanks for the visit and the nice words.
