I’ve never seen Golden Girls. I have the first 3 seasons of the Mary Tyler Moore show but Betty hadn’t joined the series yet. TV series wise I’ve seen a few of her 50’s show The Betty White Show aka Life with Elizabeth. I have the first season of Hot in Cleveland with her and the series Bob (starring Bob Newhart). In Bob, where Bob changed jobs between seasons, Betty was his boss at the greeting card company he went to. The 2nd season was cancelled after 7 episodes with Betty in 6. The only movie I remember her from is The Proposal.
Betty has never been on the Oracle of Bacon Top 1000. These are the people on the 2020 list she appeared with.

Hey Dan. Thanks for the trivia lists on the Queen of Television. I got to know her from her appearances on game shows with husband Allen Ludden. I barely remember her role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and never watched The Golden Girls, Bob or Hot in Cleveland. Cloris Leachman another Moore alumni is her most frequent Oracle co-star. 10 Oscar winning co-stars with the classic Advise & Consent providing two all-time legends…Fonda and Laughton. Good information as always.
Almost a Centurion – my oh my! Amazingly she is still on the go -Wiki quotes her years active as “1932 until present” and she undertook 3 voice roles in 2019 including Toy Story 4; appeared in 3 episodes of the TV series Fireside Chat with Ester between 2015-2018; and as The Work Horse records above she was in a 2019 movie called Trouble as well. She must love working and/or keeping generally active as best she can because she has a whopping $75 million in the bank according to Celeb Net Worth site.
I never watched the Mary Tyler Moore Show and to be honest The Golden Girls wasn’t basically my cup-of-tea either. However I was staying with a relative for a fortnight once and I was left to my own devices during the day so I binge-watched The Golden Girls to pass the time as that was the only DVD in the house.
I became quite familiar with the characters and found it OK entertainment; for me certainly a cut above a feast of Steve’s zombie movies! and homely Betty’s Rose Nylund was my favorite character. The only movie that I have ever seen her in is Advise and Consent but unfortunately I can’t remember her from it. However don’t knock it because for once I’ve beaten Flora – if only by one movie!!
Sadly Betty’s 3 soulmates from The Golden Girls have all passed on – coincidentally in 3 consecutive years: Estelle Getty in 2008 aged 84; Bea Arthur aged 86 in 2009; and Rue McClenaghan [the flighty Blanche Devereaux of The Golden Girls] in 2010 aged 76.
According to IMDB over her career Betty collected 38 acting awards and 40 nominations many of them for The Golden Girls; Ally McBeal; Sat Night Live and the Mary Tyler Moore show. All that in her CV along with the $75 million net worth is not a bad haul for her impressive life’s work which as Bruce says has spanned 7 decades. “Voted Up!”
Wikipedia quotes Betty’s years active as 1939 – present; sorry I said 1932.
Hey Bob….thanks for the feedback on Betty White. Wow….75 million is very impressive….you would think with that much money she might retire…..lol. The Mary Tyler Moore Show was a television show I remember my mom watching when I was growing up. As for Golden Girls….when that was big….I was in my 20s and that show had no interest to me. It is sad that she is the only Golden Girl still around. Lots of good information in your comment…thanks for sharing it with UMR.
I have not seen any Betty White movies, but I am a big fan of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls. I am also fond of Hot in Cleveland
Hey Flora….thanks for checking out our Betty White page. I liked her in The Mary Tyler Moore Show as well. Not sure I watched a single episode of The Golden Girls…seen parts of some episodes….but I know it was a huge show back in the day. Good stuff as always.
99 years old! Wow!
Betty’s been in less films than I thought but than again she was much more famous on TV.
I’ve seen 7 of the 15 films on the chart, favorites are Toy Story 4, The Lorax and Lake Placid. I’ve also seen Holy Man, Ponyo, The Proposal and Hard Rain.
Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!
Hey Steve….I meant for this page to come out on her 99th birthday…which was just a few days ago….but we are having so many behind the scenes issues that it took almost 5 days to get this page published….ah the joys of owning this website.
I agree…..she is way more famous for her tv work than her movie work. WoC wanted to know why I did not have a page on her….and I responded….”I do not think she made any movies”….15 is a decent total….but not for somebody that has been acting for the last 75 years.
I have seen 10 of her movies. I did not like Toy Story 4 at all. I do not even remember her roles in many of her movies. I guess the only one that sticks out is her role in The Proposal. Good comment as always.
Hi Mr. Cogerson,
Excellent UMR Page
Yaaay Betty
Thank you Mike.
