At age 16, Cameron Diaz began a career as a fashion model. After modeling for such designers as Calvin Klein and Levi’s, she turned to acting at the age of 21. Diaz auditioned for the movie The Mask, even though she had no previous acting experience.  After obtaining the main female role, she immediately started acting lessons. The Mask was a major hit and put both Diaz and Jim Carrey on the map as major players in the Hollywood world.  Since appearing in The Mask, she has appeared in numerous blockbuster hits (There’s Something About Mary, Charlie’s Angels, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and the Shrek franchise) as well as critical hits (Being John Malkovich and Gangs of New York…both Oscar® nominees for Best Picture).

Her IMDb page shows over 55 acting credits since 1992. This page will rank Cameron Diaz movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings.

  1. She’s actually a better actress than she’s given credit for. She’s been in so much fluff like “Charlies Angels” and “Something about Mary” that it’s easy to forget that she can actually act when she tries. She was excellent in “Gangs of NY”.

She’s also very pretty and she has one of the most disarming and enchanting smiles I’ve ever seen.

A few years back I took one of those online “Which star would you be a good match with?” tests and she came up as my celebrity soulmate.

Did you know the talkative, over-friendly character Anna Faris played in “Lost in Translation” was based on Cameron Diaz.

    Thanks for another interesting page,

    Rob

    1. Hey Rob, I did not know that she was the inspiration for the character in Lost in Translation….I find stuff like that very interesting thanks for sharing. I agree she is a better actress than people give her credit for…I thought she was outstanding in A Life Less Ordinary with Ewan McGregor and directed by Oscar winning director Danny Boyle…in that movie she is funny, sexy, tough and loving all in one role…which sounds like a great soulmate…thanks for the great comments

  2. Hey Cogerson, did not that Diaz made so many movies already. I liked Charlie’s Angels. I will be watching out for your Gary Cooper Page. Did you find out any information about Love In The Afternoon with Audrey Hepburn yet? It was made in 1957..

    1. Hey BERN1960, yep she has been very busy since her movie career started in 1994….almost 2 movies a year…that is some production. As for my Cooper hub…I found all the information on Love in the Afternoon…..my issues have been his movies from the 1930s….very hard to find information during that time period. But his hub is coming soon. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. wow. surprises me the movies that she turned down. my favorite movies of hers were The Box, There’s Something About Mary, and Gangs of New York. very good page

    1. Thanks for checking out my Diaz page, Nickalooch. I always find it fascinating to learn about which roles an actor/actress turned down. Diaz turned down many movies that turned out to be major hits…..but she has a great track record of box office hits. I will be checking out The Box soon….and I owned Gangs of New York and Something About Mary on dvd. Thanks for commenting and thanks for the follow.

      1. i was a big fan of The Box i believe because it was made by the director of Donnie Darko, one of my favorite films. I think because of how strange the film was is why it struggled a little in theaters

        1. Hey Nickalooch…you are correct too many chick flick have taken their toll….maybe Gambit which is based on an old Michael Caine movie and being written by the Coen Brothers will bring her back to quality non chick flick movies.

As for The Box….I know I will be checking it out as well as Sunshine625….I did not realize the same director of Donnie Darko did The Box as well….talk about another movie that gained traction once it made it to DVD/BluRay.

          1. Strange…hmmmm, might explain why I haven’t seen The Box. I’m more of a chick-flick type of girl but I take them as serious fun 🙂 I think Cameron is awesome in chick-flicks due to her swagger, attitude, feistiness and cuteness! How could anyone not adore her! Dancing around in boy-shorts CLASSIC!

          2. Hey Sunshine625….well Nickalooch, Mentalist Acer and Scotty my son all recommend The Box…Cameron expects you to join that group at least by the end of the week. Your suggested hub is getting lots of feedback..thanks for the suggestion

          3. End of the week? I’ll do my best. My son-in-law just informed me it’s On Demand and all movies are free since he’s an employee of Brighthouse Cable! Wow I had no idea! Haha!

Thank you for the page cogerson 🙂

  4. I really liked her and the movie”The Box”…if Cameron were younger,I would,ve liked to see her spin in Legally Blond.;)

    1. Thanks for stopping by mentalist acer….I know she and Tom Cruise got along great on Vanilla Sky too bad they did not make Jerry Maguire together. I have not seen The Box yet but I know lots of people think highly of that movie. I agree seeing her in Legally Blonde would have been sweet.

    2. The Box? How did that movie get me? I googled it … thriller … should be interesting. Thanks for the info

      1. I can not believe you have not seen The Box…Sunshine625…and I thought you were a Cameron Diaz fan. Actually the movie died pretty quickly in the theaters when it got released, but I think it has grown a following on DVD/Blu-Ray…..PS I am sure Cameron forgives you for this lack of support for her career….lol.

  5. Dear Cameron,

Thank you for the many laughs and some tears you have blessed your fans with. Your sense of humor and sense of style is appreciated by many. As a fan of the Shrek franchise I was THRILLED when Princess Fiona and Shrek hooked up and those little ogres just complete your family. I can’t help but think of you when I see someone’s hair standing straight up due to excess gel…In Something About Mary that was a classic scene but we all know it wasn’t gel. Ewww. Your Bad Teacher car wash scene was outstanding! Critics claim your body is to buff?! You got it girl and worked hard enough for it so flaunt it. Cameron, thank you again for the laughs! By the way it’s an honor to receive a tribute hub by cogerson so if or when you get a chance send him an atta boy for a well done shout-out to you. I’m glad you still have a pulse! Keep up the great work!

    Your fan,

    Sunshine –

    1. I figured you would be happy Sunshine625 as Cameron has a great pulse. Great comment/letter to Cameron….I wonder if movie stars surf the internet looking for information about themselves. The hair gel scene in Something About Mary is classic…hard to believe that movie is already thirteen years old. Thanks for the compliment
