Christian Bale Movies

Want to know the best Christian Bale movies?  How about the worst Christian Bale movies?  Curious about Christian Bale’s box office grosses or which Christian Bale movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Christian Bale movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information and much much more.

I have been a huge Christian Bale fan ever since I saw him in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun. The first time I saw Empire of the Sun, I thought it was two child actors playing the role of Jamie Graham. It was just Bale. The movie covers World War II over the years 1937 to 1945. In my opinion it is one of the best performances from a child actor ever

As he got older, Bale graduated from mostly supporting roles to lead actor by 2000’s American Psycho. In 2005 he was cast as Bruce Wayne in the Batman reboot. This reboot has produced monster hits in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. He played Bruce Wayne/Batman three times in The Dark Knight trilogy. Since becoming Batman, Bale has also managed to star in the hits The Prestige, 3:10 to Yuma, and Terminator Salvation. Christian Bale’s The Fighter won him the Academy Award® and Golden Globe® as Best Supporting Actor for The Fighter.  About the only bad thing to happen to Bale in the last few years is the release of his infamous rant on the set of Terminator Salvation.

His IMDb page shows over 50 acting credits since 1986. This page will rank Christian Bale movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television appearances, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.

  1. The big problem I had with The Prestage was I sympathied with Hugh Jackman more than Bale’s charactor. I was kinda mad at Caines charactor for switching sides and setting jackman up.

I liked bales potrayel of John Conner in Terminator Salvation, Too bad the movie sucked. I never understood what the new terminators mission was. If it was to kill Kyle Reece his programing shoulda kicked in at their first meeting. Anyway a good page on a great actor.

    1. Hey ruffridyer….I love the Prestige……I think you have to look at it in a different light….we have one Jackman character and two Bale characters…..the real bad guy was the Bale guy that died and loved Scarlet…..Jackman became just as bad as that Bale brother….Caine sided with the good Bale brother…but that is the beauty of that movie….each character kept getting the support of the audience…..

As for Terminator Salvation ….I liked his John Conner part…too bad they made it a supporting character in this movie….maybe Bale and Arnold will make T5…thanks for stopping by

  2. This is a great page. Bale is one of my favorite actors, ever since I saw him in American Psycho, which is still my favorite role of his. I enjoyed him in Equilibrium as well and definitely The Machinist. A lot of people think he’s stiff, but I think it’s only because his latest roles haven’t given him as much of a chance to breathe. I even enjoyed him in Rescue Dawn, even if the movie is said to have skewed the real story quite a bit for Hollywood’s sake. I still need to see Empire of the Sun. I have yet to see Bale as a child actor

    1. Hey Ben Graves….I highly recomment Empire of the Sun…if only for his performance…but it is a very long movie….and it kinda drags at the end….but Bale is awesome. Equilibrium is a great unknown action movie….I am surprised it has not gained any momentum now that Bale is one of the biggest stars out there…..he is one of the few actors that seems to be willing to take chances….Rescue Dawn and The Machinist are great examples of what he will do for a role….kinda of like Deniro when he was younger….thanks for the great comments

  3. I have to admit like you, Bale has always been one of my favorite actors for a long time. In fact, I’m surprised he didn’t really become more well known until he made “Batman Begins.” I actually do own a copy of his films the “Mechanist” and “Prestige” that I bought at a used DVD store for like five bucks each. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten around to watching them since. lol. isn’t that terrible? Well seeing as how im off half of this weekend, i’ll probably make sometime to finally watch them. idk why i haven’t watched them since buying them at such a great price. anyways, i’ll definitely be sure to vote up your movie page and thanks again for writing this.

    1. Sounds like a great weekend to watch some Christian Bale movies…..if you have not seen The Mechanist yet…..is a movie you have to see it at least once….I am not sure it is worth a second viewing….if only because watching Bale’s performance is not a easy movie to watch as he physically looks so horrible…thanks for reading this Bale movie page.

  4. I surely agree with you that the acting by Christian Bale in “Empire of the Sun” is spectacular. He is one of the finest actors in the world today. I recently watched “The Fighter” and it is a great film.

    1. Thanks for the compliment James. Bale won me over with Empire…..I would say acting wise….his top movies would The Fighter, Rescue Dawn and the Machinist…..the way he disappears into those roles….unbelievable. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  5. One of my favourite Actors- it was a well deserved Oscar. I like his intensity and dedication. I think The underrated Prestige also deserves a place among his best… as always comprehensive and highly informative. voted up, up and above.

    1. Thanks for the compliment Docmo…..I agree Prestige is one of his better movies…..the trick ending fooled me when I saw it at the theater….thanks for reading
