Cogerson Interviews Sunshine625
A fun exchange between two Hubbie Award-winning Hubbers
What inspired you to join Hubpages and how did Tim McGraw end up being your first Hub subject?
My doctor was my inspiration, kind of. I was seeking an outlet for stress therapy and he suggested antidepressants. I discussed this with a friend who suggested that I dedicate more time to writing. I opted out of the drugs and went with my friends suggestion. She’s known me for 31 years, I decided she knew me better. I choose the right path, thank you Jill!
One day I was stalking Tim McGraw (via the web…duh) and I came across HubPages, still not sure how, but I did. I joined and wrote my first Hub about Tim. It’s my worst Hub. It’s my reminder of where I started and how far I’ve come. One day I do plan on finishing the Hub, but for now I just continue to stalk it.
One of my favorite Hubs of yours is Cancer Etiquette. Do you have a favorite Hub, and if so, which Hub is it and why is it special to you?
Cancer Etiquette will always have a special place in my heart. As we all know cancer sucks. That Hub offers advice from what I’ve learned from the cancer journey. My favorite Hub(s) would have to be the Casey Anthony Trial series I wrote. What I got out of the Hubs is more important to me than the subject matter. I was very passionate about the trial (as most of America knows) and we all hoped for justice but we didn’t get it. During my Hub series I met so many wonderful people from around the world! They are still and I hope always will be a special part of my life. If it wasn’t for Casey I would never have known they existed. Casey also made me go viral (ugh, I wish it wasn’t due to her).
Since joining Hubpages what have you discovered about yourself as a writer?
That I have too much to say! As a writer I have the power to make people laugh, smile, cry, vent or ponder. Some readers might not like what I have to share, that’s okay. We can always agree to disagree. I realize that humor is vital to our being and we crave it like a drug. I believe when all else fails just laugh. Laugh at yourself, laugh at your mistakes, laugh at your enemies, laugh at life but what’s truly important is to always remember to laugh.
I have noticed you do a great job of promoting your Hubs. What suggestions do you have for your fellow Hubbers on promoting their Hubs?
I am a pimp. Yes, I said pimp. I pimp my Hubs on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and join groups that can relate to my Hubs and pimp them there also. I have pimp sidekicks that pimp my Hubs and I pimp theirs too. It’s all about pimping. The best part of this type of pimping is it’s free of charge and legal!
Besides your success here at Hubpages, have you had any other successes in your writing career?
My favorite memory was when the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper had a contest titled “My First Job” … I entered and won first place! I wrote about working with my dad in his Antique Shop on Saturdays during my teen years. I was elated, as were my family and friends! My boss at the time wasn’t, he was happy for me but very concerned I was going to leave my sales job and become a famous writer. Awww. I got laid off a few years later due to downsizing, but his expression was priceless and will be forever imprinted on my brain! I do have the article framed and displayed in my home, a gift from my hubby.
What do you enjoy most about being a Hubber, and where do you see yourself going in the future?
It’s FREE therapy, what’s not to like about it? Hubs offers me an outlet to share what’s going on in my head and to teach others about Sunshine’s rare ways to deal with life. I enjoy the community…the friends I’ve made, the things I’ve learned, the subjects that are discussed and most importantly the fun we all have! In the future I hope to be able to continue to make my readers laugh and smile because in return that makes my heart super happy.
Would you like to list a few of your favorite writers here on HubPages?
I would if I could, but I can’t because space is limited. The writers I follow on HubPages cease to amaze me with their talent and creativeness. Each day I am in awe and sometimes I’m actually left speechless! Yes, even Sunshine can be speechless at times! My friends and followers on HubPages are all unique. Each of them off their personal perspective and points of view within their Hubs and comments. I’m proud to be part of their team and HubPages family.
Looking at your profile, it says you are fascinated with words. So here is my question…..why is abbreviated such a long word?
I believe only Webster would have that answer. Such as, why is dyslexic so hard to spell? Also, why isn’t the word gullible in the dictionary? Some thoughts to ponder…
What five words best describe Sunshine625?
Dedicated, because no matter what I do in life I give it my all, there is no half-assed for Sunshine. I asked my family to choose 4 more words. Their combined responses were: Witty, Flirtatious, Motherly and Vibrant. I tend to agree with their selections. I’m sure there are more words, but that the HubPages moderators might object to them.
And finally what Hubs can your followers expect to see in the near future?
I prefer to keep my Hubbers on their toes. One never knows what is going on in my head and what I will write about. I will say that Sunshine does wear many hats so I do foresee Dr. Sunshine and Sunshine P.I. making another appearance one day soon. I introduced them in my Hub, The Squirrel Spat. I do intend to bring more laughter and smiles to the table! 🙂
