  • Cogerson on April 3rd – Happy Birthday to WoC, Marlon, Doris, Eddie, Alec, Matthew & AdamApril 3rd is a popular birthday for many UMR subjects...but as great as Brando was, as nice as Doris was, as funny as Eddie is, this day has been all about WoC for the last 21 years. Happy Birthday to my better half!

  • Cogerson on Dorothy Stickney MoviesHey Mike HoF 2020. I looked at it briefly. I am planning to do more with it this weekend. Shockingly, my weekend is not jam packed with family activities. Thanks for sending it.
  • Cogerson on 2025 In Memoriam – Rest in Peace Val KilmerHey Dan. Thanks for sharing these links on Val Kilmer. Sad news about his passing. I grew over the years to like his performances. His Doc Holliday is one of my all-time favorite performances.
  • Mike HoF 2020 on Dorothy Stickney MoviesGreat UMR pagee. Did you look at the 1925 data i sent? So much to learned if you want to go back even further I have quite a bit more info. Thx

  • Dan on 2025 In Memoriam – Rest in Peace Val KilmerFrom People magazine. Val Kilmer, best known for movies such as Top Gun and 1995’s Batman Forever, has died. He was 65 years old. His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, told The New York Times he died of pneumonia on Tuesday, April 1. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and later recovered, she added. The actor’s death comes after he made a rare public appearance for his TwainMania Foundation in early June 2019 after taking a step away from the spotlight following some recent health battles. The actor’s 23-year-old son Jack was also in attendance that night. The appearance came...
  • Cogerson on Dorothy Stickney MoviesGoing into today, I had never heard of Dorothy Stickney. Then I went to an antique store with WoC and I found the picture right above this comment. After some debate, WoC convinced me to buy the picture with two autographs. After some research, I realized this was the next UMR subject. So here is a Dorothy Stickney page. Yet another example of me thinking I know a lot about movies, and then realizing there is so much more to know.
  • Mike HoF 2020 on ForumsHi Mr. Cogerson, Here is the 1925 data you wanted. The data is from the Variety issued in 1925. My data is only from original release and year it went thru. Not the long running of some movies that ran for 2 or 3 years. I included my data research the and on also include in () brackets the letter "i" or "w" which was IMDB and Wikipedia that has some data that I could bounce my data against. I also included notable actors and actresses from the movie. At the bottom I also added the only data that I...
  • Frank on Richard Chamberlain MoviesMay you rest in peace Richard Chamberlain and thank you for decades of superb performances and human integrity. He was one of the most popular teen idols in the 1960s along with Elvis Presley, Troy Donahue, and Ricky Nelson due his successful Dr. Kildare TV series. After a couple of U.S. films he left for England, where he vowed to become a serious actor. He was the first U.S. actor to play Hamlet in London, since John Barrymore. Thereafter, he diversified his career into serious theater, movies, and mini-series. His was truly a great actor, both in skill, technique, and...
  • Mike HoF 2020 on Richard Chamberlain MoviesI will do this very soon for you. I am rather proud of my database. I have data on every movie made except for a few types that I care not to review. I have A, B, C foreign etc. type movies data on all these movies that is available that I could find. Data on every actor or actress in these movies that is available. I strictly stay in he domestic area, but do have some world data also. Most of your data is from A type. If you ever want to set a B type database let know....
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesHey Mike. I have been thinking about writing a 1925 paqe for a while. 420 movies for 1925? That is a staggering amount of movies. I agree having 1925 to 2025 would be pretty cool. You can send them either e-mail or a comment. Which ever is the easiest. My e-mail is cogersonmoviescore@gmail.com
  • Cogerson on Newest UMR PagesChallenged myself to write a new page for each day in March. Happy to say, I not only reached that mark, but, exceeded that by one movie. 32 new movie pages appeared in the month of March. Already over 50 movie pages in 2025. Last year, I did not even crack 100. That was the first time since we started this web page that I did not write many new pages in a single year.
  • Mike HoF 2020 on Richard Chamberlain MoviesNo problem your welcome. Hey would you be interested in data from 1925? I completed going thru Variety from 1920 to 1979 an gathered all the B.O. data I could find. Then did what I could find online for that time. I have data on 420 movies from 1925 and 144 of them over $100,000 that could be used to set a page up for 1925 in your database. Then you would have 100 years of data 1925-2025. Let me know. thx
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesHey Steve....Tally count. Steve 8, Flora 7, Cogerson 7 and Bob 5. Neither Shogun or The Thorn Birds made our rankings. I would say those are his two most famous roles. Funny titles of the Musketeers movies. Thanks for the visit and the comment. RIP Richard Chamberlain.
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesHey Flora. Tally count. Flora 7, Cogerson 7 and Bob 5. We have seen 5 of the same movies. I have not seen The Slipper and the Rose or Twilight of Honor. He is very good as the very bad man in Petulia. Petulia is a cult classic, but not one I want to watch again. Not surprised you have not seen his Adam Sandler movie I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. RIP Mr. Chamberlain.
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesHey Bob. Thanks for the thoughts on Mr. Chamberlain. Since your comment, he has passed away. His tv career far outshined his movie career. Both you and Dan talked about his role in The Music Lovers. I will have to check that performance out. I have seen 7 of his movies. So tally count 7 to 5. Good information on his singing career. He had success in many different areas. RIP Mr. Chamberlain.
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesHey Mike....thanks for the comments on Mr. Chamberlain.
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesHey Dan....wow....it took me 5 years to respond to your comment. The sad news of his passing reached me today. That is cool that you saw him signing books. I think WoC just ordered an autographed book of his this morning. 21 Oscar winning co-stars is low for such a long career, but a decent total for an actor that mainly worked in television. A third of that 21 came from the box office bomb The Swarm. A movie that I saw in theaters. Good comment. RIP Mr. Chamberlain.
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesHey PhilHoF17. Thanks for the thoughts on Mr. Chamberlain. I am returning comment almost 5 years after you wrote it, as I just heard of his passing this morning. I am not sure I have a favorite Chamberlain role. Though, I did enjoy his version of the Three Musketeers. With his passing, it makes me wonder how many Towering Inferno cast members are still around....off the top of my head I can only think of Robert Wagner, who is now 95. Good stuff as always.
  • Cogerson on Richard Chamberlain MoviesI have seen 7 of this movies. Even saw The Swarm in theaters. I have not seen many of his television roles....even missing his big mini-series. Rest in Peace Mr. Chamberlain.
  • Cogerson on Michael Rooker MoviesHey Dan. Thanks for the stats on Michael Rooker. His Bacon number is pretty high, but when I think about all the low budget movies he made that did not make the table I can buy it. Tons of Oscar winners from JFK. I was actually up your way last weekend, as WoC and I traveled to New York City with a school trip. 53 people from my school got dropped off in front of the Met. We did all the tourist stuff. Central Park, Times Square, Broadway (we saw Moulin Rouge), Ghostbuster firehouse, 9-11 memorial ….just to name a...

  • Duncan Wyrick on Paul Newman MoviesIt’s my favorite movie as well.
  • David on 1998 MoviesHey Cogerson, but on all other big box offices sites they state 162,798,565$ as the correct number. So that's why I wanted to let you know. Thanks

  • Cogerson on Leslie Howard MoviesHey Rumplestiltskin. It is the ones I have box office grosses on. Without grosses we can not calculate a score. We are always researching, so hopefully we will unlock more Mr. Howard movies.
  • Cogerson on 1998 MoviesHey David. I am not seeing that error. A Bug's Life earned $62,798,565 on it's release. Adjusted that would be $157,330,933. Worldwide Adjusted is a staggering $659,900,000. Thanks for checking out UltimateMovieRankings.com.
  • Cogerson on Jack Kruschen MoviesHey Dan. Thanks for the information on Jack Kruschen. I have been looking for Oscar nominated thespians who do not have an UMR page. Thus Kruschen, Rupert Crosse and others have gotten pages. Interesting that Mr. Kruschen has a spot in the Top 100. I always thought he looked like Captain Kangaroo when I was younger. I like how you included AA by their names. Good stuff as always.
  • Stephen McDevitt on Leslie Howard MoviesPimpernel Smith what a great movie. Romance, crime, drama it had it all.
  • David on 1998 MoviesHi, There's an error with "A Bug's Life". Box office is 162,8 instead of 62,8
  • Dan on Jack Kruschen MoviesJack Kruschen was #903 0n the first Oracle list in 2000 but fell off and never returned. The following are interesting actors Jack appeared with. All Academy award he appeared with have AA after their film. Non-Oscar winners that are in your top 400 movie stars book are listed with their rank on your list. Actors who have neither AA or a rank are actors who were at one time or another in the top 100 Oracle people. • Cogerson on All Time Top Ticket Selling MoviesHey Mia. Audie Murphy's To Hell And Back has an estimated 31.9 million in ticket sales. That would be good enough to be in 521st place.
  • Mia on All Time Top Ticket Selling MoviesComparing today’s money value to the 50’s, would any Audie Murphy movie come close to this list?
  • Cogerson on Michelle Trachtenberg MoviesMy oldest daughter, KtCat94, was over the house and mentioned Michelle Trachtenberg's sad passing. When I said I was not really aware of Ms. Trachtenberg, my daughter seemed very disappointed. Turns out I have seen 6 of her movies...including one in theaters....Cop Out with Bruce Willis. So, granted it is a little late, we now have a Michelle Trachrenberg page. Rest in peace.

  • ANON - HACKMAN AND BRANDO COMPARISON on Gene Hackman MoviesIn my mid eighties now I don’t do a lot of posting these days as my fingers can start to hurt pretty quickly. So I usually only hit the keyboards when I have something I really, really want to say. Then I live with the discomfort for a while. Maybe my scaling-back is just as well: remember the guy in Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray who was once the life and soul of every party or social gathering he attended (and those were in high society). At the age of 35 he suddenly withdrew into himself and was...
  • WoC on Gene Hackman MoviesSorry, Cogerson. You have responsibilities.
  • ANON - GENE AND BRANDO, CRUISE AND EASTWOOD on 2025 In Memoriam – Rest in Peace Val KilmerA PERSONAL APPRECIATION OF THE LATE GENE HACKMAN I have long loved watching Gene Hackman and my favourite Hackman movie is the sports drama Hoosiers (1986) also known as Best Shot in GB GENE HACKMAN AND MARLON BRANDO (1) Gene played the role of Lex Luther in the 1978 film Superman. I saw an interview in which he was asked why he, a strong dramatic actor, took on such an acting-lite role about an ancient American comic book character and Gene replied: "Because I learned that Marlon Brando was to be in it. We didn't share any scenes but I...
  • Turner on Gene Hackman MoviesRIP Gene Hackman. One of the greats.
  • Thomas on Gene Hackman MoviesSuper sad news. I loved him as hardboiled Popeye Doyle and the outrageous scoundrel Royal Tenenbaum. What an actor.

  • Cogerson on Gene Hackman MoviesFebruary 27th 6 AM. Ouch. The passing of Gene Hackman is hitting me hard. WoC woke me up this morning and said you need to wake up and update UMR. Then she told me the tragic news of Hackman, his wife and his dog dying. Rest in peace Mr. Hackman. Your movies have meant so much to me. Sad sad news.

  • Arthur Leng on Ginger Rogers MoviesI think that Magnificent Doll was a better movie than people judged, if only for the rousing speech that Ginger delivered to a lynch mob at the end of the movie, a speech that her and mother rewrote because the original script was too tame.
  • In The Shadows on Antonio Banderas MoviesThe movie I think you're thinking of is The Big Bang (2010), starring Antonio Banderas. In the film, Banderas plays a private detective named Ned Cruz, who is hired to find a missing woman, Lexie Persimmon, who was forced into prostitution. As he investigates, he gets entangled in a dangerous conspiracy involving criminals, corrupt cops, and quantum physics.

The Toomers - JM Books, and walking Jordan Hare track as a kid with Dad. very memorable. But going to the movies on Saturday mornings awesome. • Dan on February 3rd – AI Podcast – Helakoski & DanI just found this today, rather cool. Are the couple talking computer generated or some of your family. A couple of notes. I didn't see Laurel and Hardy alive, they were both dead before I discovered them. My mother took me The Future Perils of Laurel and Hardy in Manhattan in 1968 and it was snowing out. That film was one of those Robert Youngson silent film compilations here made in the 60's shown on TCM. I started logging films in 1992 when I hit 8000 on index cards. I'm approaching 27000 at this writing.

  • Cogerson on Martin Ritt MoviesSomewhat shocked that we did not already have a Martin Ritt page. If you would have asked me if he had an UMR page I would have sworn he got one years ago. I have seen 11 of these movies…a little less than I would have guessed. Favorites would include Murphy’s Romance and his 2 Paul Newman classics Hud and Hombre. FYI - just watched Pete and Tillie last night. It was a big “it’s ok”. Not sure I bought the happy ending after Matthau spent the whole movie being a jerk to Carol Burnett.
  • FROM BOB to STEVE LENTSMAN on Steve’s Top 10 Charts YouTube ForumHI STEVE Enough of this A1 nonsense! You notice that I have addressed you as Steve Lentsman in the salutation above. The reason for that is I am hinting that it would be nice to see one video from you by the time Lent comes around in England this year (5 March – 17 April). I normally wouldn’t drop such hints as I know how busy you keep yourself; whilst I am free to amuse myself as I please. It’s just that the girls in my amateur movies group were complaining that they hadn’t had seen a TURN-ON display of...
  • George Vandross HoF on 1/29 A.I. Talking About UMR Hall of Famers George & Steve LensmanI am speechless. Thanks for doing this! I am going to share this with my kids.
  • Steve AI Lensman on Steve’s Top 10 Charts YouTube ForumAloha Bob and Flora are you still posting here? I know I've been away for some time now. How is everyone here at the UMR? And who is this mysterious ANON guy that sounds just like Bob? [wink] Bruce has confessed to me in an email that he doesn't spend much time on the UMR, too busy teaching kids at school! Someone has to! I still haven't come up with something new for my youtube channel. Maybe I can get AI to create videos for me, yes I'm that lazy. This comment has been specially created by Lens AI 2001....
  • Steve Lensman on 1/29 A.I. Talking About UMR Hall of Famers George & Steve LensmanFascinating, as Spock would say. Was that scripted Bruce? They did sound like real people. I've used AI to create short stories featuring friends and family. Hilarious. A new age is upon us. Or will AI take over the planet? Thanks for that Bruce. Made me laugh.

  • Cogerson to Dan on AboutHey Dan. Damn, damn, damn. I purposedly waited a longer time to try and find mistakes in the book. And just when I thought I was good...you point out so many major screwups on my part. Thanks for finding them. Last night I fixed the Sidney errors, table error and the Ethan Hawke error in the paperback copy. I will make the changes in the hard cover tonight. WoC thinks we should send you a copy of the next book before publishing. If you share your address, I will send you a copy of the book minus the errors you...
  • Frank on Jeffrey Hunter MoviesJeffrey Hunter was not an alcoholic. His early death was due to the impact of film-related explosion in a European-made film. Upon his return to the United States, he suffered a fall in his own home. A subsequent brain surgery was unable to save his life. Hunter was especially memorable as Christ in Nicholas Ray's King of Kings; and John Ford's The Searchers. He died much too soon.

  • Cogerson on January 22nd – Movie Trivia QuestionHey MikeHoF2020. All Hitchcock leading ladies for sure. We were listing those that were still alive. Eva Marie Saint is also one of the last Cary Grant leading ladies to still be around. Of the ones you listed, we also have a personalized autograph from Doris Day as well. Hope all is going well in your neck of the woods. I have been dealing with snow and sadly no school (I am so sad....lol).
  • Cogerson on Jayne Mansfield MoviesThank you Anon. I somehow put the link as a post versus a page. Post links stop working after about two years (I do not know why). I also gave Jayne a quick update too.....the page looks so much better now. Thanks again.

  1. H Mr. Cogerson,

    FYI
I know your database only takes movies that make $100,000 dollars and up.
If you want to add a few more years to your database.
I have the following years and number of movies over $100,000 dollars.
Almost all data is domestic only.

    1924— 130 movies
    1923— 118 movies
    1922— 79 movies
    1921—-15 movies
    1920— 9 movies
    1918—4 movies
    1917— 5 movies
    1916—3 movies
    1915—5 movies
    1914— 3 movies

I will send them to you anyway.
    Make them at your leisure.
    Thx
