Call of the Wild is the first major 20th Century picture with no Fox attached, Disney having dumped the Fox part. Downhill was Searchlight Pictures, no Fox Searchlight.
In 1934 Darryl Zanuck started 20th Century releasing through United Artists. 18 of their first 19 films were hits so they merged with Fox films in 1935, Darryl taking over as president. The last 20th Century film released through UA was coincidently, The Call of the Wild, starring Clark Gable and Loretta Young. So Call of the Wild is the last and then the first 20th Century picture.
