  1. My favourite films of Danny’s are Godfather 2, City Hall and Once Around. I particularly enjoyed him in the latter one as the father who resents being sponged upon by his son in law played by Richard Dreyfuss. Danny’s role in Godpop 2 was really a walk-on one if I remember correctly

On top of his lengthy movie career Danny has also been successful (1) on Television. Recently for example, in 2017, he appeared in the TV movie Broken Dreams Blvd. Also in 2017 he was featured in an episode of each of two TV series – Difficult People [voice only] and Fielder’s Choice.

    (2) on Stage. His theatrical appearance included those in Gemini, Floating Light Bulb, Hurlyburly, House of Blue Leaves and The Shoemaker.

He has bowed out leaving 3 cinematic projects at post production stage: The Italy Boys, Hereafter Musical [a short] and One Moment.

I notice that the opportunity has once more presented itself to give Mr Gimme More a plug on this site; but I salute the Cogerson site marking Danny’s sad passing with a new page. Danny leaves behind a net fortune of $6 million according to Celebrity Net Worth site.

    1. Hey Bob….thanks for the thoughts on the late Danny Aiello. I figured you were going to mention Once Around….as you have referenced that movie a few times in the past. I do not actually remember his part in The Godfather II very well. I need to watch that classic again. Good information on his television and stage work. Rest in Peace Danny Aiello.

      1. Danny may not have got much of an innings in Godpop TWO; but in the TV mini-series The Last Don and its sequel Last Don 2 [1997 & 1998] he got to play the ‘Godfather’ as he was Don Demenico Clericuzio, who like Brando’s Don Corleone was the ageing head of a Mafia family.

As was Godpop, The Last Don was from a Mario Puzo novel. Joe Mantegna one of Danny’s co-stars in the two Last Don mini-series was [not to be left out of ANY of the action!] actually in Godpop THREE [1990].

For the first Part of the two Last Don mini-series releases Aiello received an Online Film & TV award Lead Actor nomination and Mantegna an Outstanding Supporting Actor Primetime Emmy nomination. Ah, the heirs of Brando!

Speaking about Once Around and the relationship between Danny and Dreyfus’ sponger character “He always seems to be arriving at my home. I never see him Leave.”

    1. Hey Calvin H. Weird consequence about you watching Leon on the same night he passed away. I started watching that movie tonight as a tribute to Mr. Aiello.

  2. Nice tribute to one of the better character actors out there. 40 movies? I would have guessed more. I like many of his movies, but would recommend two of his lesser known roles. Brooklyn Lobster and 29th Street. Thoughts and prayers.

    1. Hey John. Well Danny Aiello does have a lot of low budget movies that never got released in North America theaters. That might help explain why 49 movies might seem a little low. Thanks for checking our Aiello page. RIP.
