Night of The Iguana my favorite !
Hey Pat…. I thought the female leads Kerr and especially Ava Gardner were excellent in Night of the Iguana. Burton’s performance never rang true to me….so I did not enjoy the movie as much as you did
Agree the females were carrying him..one of his weakest roles despite his abilities as an actor ..Burt Lancaster could have nailed this one
You are probably right. Lancaster and Kerr had a great screen chemistry.
She often was wasted at MGM…but, apart from them, she was brilliant…her look-at-the-train in The Sundowners; Black Narcissus, From Here to Eternity, and other greats make you regret the times she had to do Edward My Son, hThe Hucksters, PRisoner of Zenda, and other too-worn films. Watched both versions of Zenda recently, and Colman made it all so right…while MGM and Stewart Granger followed the original line for line, and shot for shot, and was awful.
Hey Chuck R…………I was shocked about how much I enjoyed The Sundowners. Mitchum and Kerr made an awesome screen team. The sheep shearing scene reminded me of the egg eating challenge in Cool Hand Luke. I thought Edward My Son was pretty good…at least she was excellent in the movie. I agree with you about Prisoner of Zenda. Thanks for some great feedback.
Deborah most outstanding acting performance was her three-roles part in masterful Archers’ “Life and Death of Colonel Blimp”. She was great also in their “Black Narcissus” and in ghosts movie masterpiece “The Innocents”. (imo).
Hey Roberto M……you know when you sort my table by critic and audience reviews….Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Black Narcissus and The Innocents are the Top 3 movies. I have not seen Colonel Blimp….but it is high on my list of movies to watch.
I’m glad to discover we have some affinity in taste for good (in this case: great) movies. I dare to warmly suggest you to put the “Colonel” at the top of your ready-to-watch list.
About to go and get Colonel today….looking forward to watching it.
I know she did others but I think an affair to remember is 1 that she’ll always be associated with. The same is for Maureen O’Hara in the quiet man
I agree Jim I….. When you hear the name Deborah Kerr I am sure many people go back to the end of An Affair To Remember and relive the ending when Grant figures out the truth,
I didn’t know she only did 38, all of them to me were wonderful.
Hey Marie…. she had 44 movies…..but I could not find box office information for some of early 1940s British movies.
