Their partnership peaked with 1977’s Annie Hall…when Keaton and Allen both won Oscars® for the movie…which also won the Best Picture Oscar®.  Keaton’s IMDb page shows 64 acting credits from 1970-2016. This page will rank 43 Diane Keaton movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings.  To do well in our overall rankings a movie has to do well at the box office, get good reviews by critics, be liked by audiences and get some award recognition.

Drivel part of the page:  Over the last couple of weeks…we had been working on a Top 50 Stars 1950-2010 page. Diane Keaton was one of the actresses we picked for our list.  Well the wife was looking at the page and noticed that we did not have a UMR page for Keaton.  She figured…. if we think she is one of the greatest stars of the last 60 years….then maybe we should have a UMR page on her.  So….since she made such a great point….we now have a Diane Keaton page.

  1. Diane Keaton, good actress, not a big fan and not much of a Woody Allen fan either. I liked her role as Kay in the Godfather movies.

I’ve seen 9 of the 43 films you’ve listed. In fact looking at the list the three Godfather movies are the only ones there I liked enough to buy on DVD and Blu-ray. The first two in particular big favorites of mine.

Not happy seeing Annie Hall top Godfather 1 & 2 on the UMR chart, in what universe does that happen? The Woodyverse? 🙂 The critics chart makes more sense.

Movies I haven’t seen include – The First Wives Club, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Radio Days and the one on my to watch list – Reds.

    Good work Bruce. Voted Up!

    1. Thanks for bringing up for me why I have not seen many of her movies. I also have not yet seen The Godfather films, and in the dark fade out quality there are in, I do not see my seeing them in the foreseeable future.

    2. Hey Steve…..wow only 3 Keaton movies in your massive movie collection….that is somewhat surprising. As I stated in other comments….her 5 Flights Up with Morgan Freeman is actually pretty good. Tally count….me 31…you 9….and Flora 5.

Annie Hall topped The Godfather 1 & 2….because of her Oscar win for Annie Hall. Pretty sure when most people hear the name Diane Keaton…..most think of Annie Hall first….and then they remember that she had a supporting role in The Godfather. Actually I think I have done 7 performers that starred in The Godfather 1 & 2….and she is the first one not to have The Godfather as her #1 movie. Caan, Brando, Pacino, Duvall, DeNiro and Coppola all have their Godfather movie in the Top Spot.

Good luck with Reds….it was a challenge to finish….a very long depressing movie….Nicholson is good….but he was the highlight of the movie…but sadly his part is pretty small. As always…thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  2. Well, Bruce.

I have seen 5 of her movies. I think she is a wonderful actress. But there are some films you know I have been avoiding due to people other than her.

Something’s Got to Give is my favourite of the films I have seen.

    1. Hey Flora.
      1. Thanks for commenting on a current actress.
      2. I imagine you will never see any of her Godfather trilogy….but her role is pretty small…especially in parts 1 and 2.
      3. Tally count….me 31…Steve 9….and you 5.
      4. A movie you might enjoy is her 5 Flights Up with Morgan Freeman….a nice drama with some good moments for her and Morgan.
      5. Glad you enjoyed Something’s Gotta Give.

      1. Thankyou. By the way, I have changed my TCM screen name to ColumboFan.

If you want to know why email me or pm me.

    1. Hey Amiee. There have been a few that have been enjoyable. I thought her and Morgan Freeman made a great screen couple in Five Flights Up. Morning Glory with Harrison Ford was a pleasant surprise too. The rest probably fall into the category you mentioned. Hoping she has one more career surge. Thanks for the visit.

  3. Hi

Your wife has great tastes. Diane Keaton is one of the classiest Dames on the screen. I loved her in Annie Hall, her and Alan worked so well together. I don’t think she ever topped that part, it seemed to define her. I remember going to see Reds, not because of Warren Beatty but definitely because of Diane Keaton.
Sadly we don’t hear much of her now, but it wouldn’t surprise me if she turned up in another quality movie in the future.

    1. Hey Chris….I agree my wife has great tastes and often comes up with great ideas. I love work with Woody in the 1970s….especially Play It Again Sam, Sleeper and Annie Hall. I watched Reds once…and that was enough for me….even with great cast. Currently the only IMDb project she has is a voice role on the new Finding Nemo movie. But I hope she has at least one more live action great role left. Thanks for sharing your Keaton thoughts.

  4. Not one of my favorites, though I did, enjoy Reds. If I can make a suggestion. I think you need a subscribe button with email alerts to your latest works. Just a thought. It could grow this fun site more.

      1. Hey Flora…..so you think a subscribe button is a good idea? Part of me thinks people are already getting a ton of e-mail….and I do not want it to be a burden. Hopefully regular readers realize that almost every third day a new page is out there. Still as I told Stein….it is worth checking out again.

    1. Hey Stein….Thanks for checking out my Keaton page…especially since she is not one of your favorites. Glad you liked Reds. As for a subscribe button….I have looked into that into the past….maybe it is time to give another look. Appreciate the comment and the visit.
