Want to know the best Disney movies? How about the worst Disney movies? Curious about Disney box office grosses or which Disney movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Disney movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences and which one got the worst reviews? Well you have come to the right place …. because we have all of that information and much more.
When Walt Disney decided to produce a full length animated movie in the mid-1930s … almost everybody thought it was a disaster waiting to happen. It even earned the nickname …. Disney’s Folly. While it turns out the man knew what he was doing…..as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs become one of the biggest box office hits of all time. Since then the Disney company has been producing one hit movie after another for almost the last 80 years. So far there have been 54 Disney Animated Movies.
This page will rank those 54 Disney movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Movies that were only distributed by Disney did not make the list…..so you will not find any Pixar or Disney Toons movies…in other words if the animation was done outside of Disney it does not make the list. If you are interested in Pixar movies you can check out my Pixar page here. Another page you might be interested in checking out is Walt Disney Live Action Movies 1937 – 1967.

Disney Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table
The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.
- Sort Disney movies by the voice stars
- Sort Disney movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
- Sort Disney movies by yearly domestic box office rank
- Sort Disney movies how they were received by critics and audiences. 60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie
- Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Disney movie received.
- Sort Disney movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score. UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

This is a great set of lists. It would be interesting to know what the original ticket prices of some of the older movies like Snow White were. I always wished they kept track off the box office, by number of tickets that were sold instead of how much money they made.
Hey Music and Art 45…..I agree with you about using tickets sold versus dollars…..it is the main reason why I include adjusted box office versus actual box office….I am attaching one of the websites I use for ticket prices for my caluculations….thanks for stopping by.
This was so awesome to read. Disney is amazing and I love watching these movies.
Hey shannalikesyou….thanks for the very nice compliment and for the visit…they are both greatly appreciated.
I seldom take my Grandchildren to the movies any more cause they don’t make movies like Disney did anymore. My favorite just has to be Beauty and the Beast. I’ ve see 2 stage plays of this and just love it.
Hey mary615…I agree Disney animation has gotten worse over the years and not better….their great accomplishment these days come from Pixar rather than the Disney animation offices. I have see the stage play of Beauty and the Beast myself…it is an excellent show. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
Lots of great, comprehensive info as usual. It’s amazing how much Snow White would have made with today’s ticket prices, that’s more than The Avengers made this year by far.
Hey nanderson500 ….that is why I include the inflated numbers versus the actual numbers…..as big as The Avengers was it can not even crack the Top 25 when looking at the biggest box office based on ticket sales and inflation….it is currently in 27th place though. …but trailing 4 classic Disney movies…..thanks for the visit and the comment they are both greatly appreciated.
This was so interesting to see the rankings/ratings. I have loved watching many of these Disney movies but find I love the very old ones best like Pinocchio and Bambi…My granddaughter loved The Little Mermaid and knew it word for word! I do have to say I was a Beauty and the Beast fan! I would think a lot of work went into this hub and many others you have done with the ratings.
Hey Sunnie Day…thanks for the visit….my kids and I have enjoyed the Disney movies you mentioned for many years now….as well as many of the other ones on the list….just the other day…three generations of my family sit down and watched Cinderella on Blu-Ray….we got some great photos of the event….and it will be remembered for a very long time. Thanks for the comment and I am glad you liked the page.
