Dog Movies

Want to know the best Dog Movies?  How about the worst Dog Movies?  Curious about Dog Movie box office grosses or which Dog Movies picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Dog Movies got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

To make this list, a dog or dogs had to be the main focus of the movie….sorry John Wick, Up. & Hondo. The animal had to be a dog…..sorry Balto, Alpha & Omega and all the wolf movies.  We had to have box office grosses on the movie…..sorry Where The Red Fern Grows.  Yes, a few movies featured cats….but when it comes time to do a Cat Movies page……the dogs in those movies will invade our cat UMR page.  See a missing Dog Movie?….just put that movie in the comment section…and we will see if we can add it to the table.

Dog Movies Ranked In Chronological Order With Ultimate Movie Rankings Score (1 to 5 UMR Tickets) *Best combo of box office, reviews and awards.

Dog Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Blue Link = Dog Movie Trailer
  • Sort by Dog Movies by stars of movies.
  • Sort Dog Movie by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort Dog Movie by yearly domestic box office rank
  • Sort Dog Movie how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Dog Movie received.
  • Sort Dog Movie by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

Dog Movies Adjusted World Wide Box Office Grosses

Goldie Cogerson (March 10th 2005 – July 10th 2018)
Drivel part of the page?  Why Dog Movies and not Cat Movies?  Well the sad news is yesterday, our dog, Goldie Cogerson, passed away.  Since starting this website……I have found it therapeutic to do UMR pages on people or in this case, a pet, that recently left us.    So here you go Goldie……a tribute page to a member of the Cogerson family for over 13 years.

  1. Lots of classics on this page, especially at the top! I was surprised A Dog’s Purpose was so far down the list, but people sure do love their dog movies.

    1. A Dog’s Purpose seems like a movie that will age well with regards to the critic audience score…seems like it has already started growing a nice following since hitting arriving on home entertainment platforms. Thanks for your help yesterday and for commenting….you are my favorite oldest daughter…lol.

  2. Umberto D from 1952 is a movie I really enjoyed. Sadly I did not see it on this list. Sorry about your dog, trust me I sadly know how you feel.

    1. Hey Ennio…..I was unsuccessful in finding box office numbers on Umberto D….but I noticed it got stellar reviews and an Oscar nomination…it would have rated pretty high.

    1. Hey Erin…she will be missed. Today was the first time in decades that WoC and I were not pet owners……but we have Katie’s pets here for a few more months……till she moves back out.
