Hmm I’ve only seen Dyan Cannon in 2 films – Revenge of the Pink Panther and The Anderson Tapes – I expected more.
I may have seen Heaven Can Wait or just bits of it, can’t remember for sure.
Dyan and Cary Grant eh, a bit of an age difference there. He was starring in films before she was born. I’ll bet her parents had mixed feelings about it. He was world famous but he was also a wrinkly old gent (with a twinkle in his eye). 😉
Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!
I’ve found a photo of the happy couple –

Hey Steve. Only 2 of her movies. Well…you have to check out Deathtrap. Great performances from Cannon, Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve….it would make a nice double feature with Caine’s Sleuth…..the original…not the horrible sequel with Jude Law. Yep…she and Grant had a huge age difference…but he got his pride and joy out of the marriage…his daughter Jennifer. I like the photo you attached. Good feedback as always.
I have seen 8 of Dyan Cannon’s movies. All of them are in the top 10.
The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is Heaven Can Wait, a rare occurance when I love a remake as much as the original (Here Comes Mr. Jordan).
The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is Honeysuckle Rose.
The LOWEST rated movie I have seen is Out to Sea,

Hey Flora. Like you I have seen eight of her movies. Of your favorites I’ve seen all of them. Deathtrap and the Last of Sheila would be my favorites too. I fixed your error in your comment so your second comment has been deleted.Seeing any of our top 10 tells me that you have seen the right movies. I agree with you about Heaven Can Wait. Good stuff as always.
With her ‘designer’-mop of blonde hair and protruding teeth, I used to confuse Dyan with Farrah Fawcett. I have seen very little of Cannon’s big screen work and recall her mostly (1) from her 4th billed 4th wheel role in 1969’s Bruce and Myrna and Joel and Asta (2) as Mrs Archibald Alexander Leach (3) from television.
Regarding (3) I most recall her in 1992’s TV movie Christmas in Connecticut a remake of Stanwyck’s 1945 cinematic one and in a 1994 two-part episode of Dick Van Dyke’s TV series Diagnosis Murder, The Last Laugh in which she was excellent as the villainess.
As the charts above faithfully record her last cinematic movie was way back in 2005 -The Boynton Beach Club. Since then she has appeared in 2 TV movies: A Kiss at Midnight in 2008 and Women without Men in 2010 nearly a decade ago.
However she has 2 projects at post-production stage-
1/A supporting tole in a TV comedy series “Mood Swings” as somebody’s Aunt Sam, scheduled for release this year.
2/the top-billed lead in a cinematic movie scheduled for release next year, a drama called “Hope’s Legacy”. There are no other known names [at least to me] involved with it so it looks like a project which could go quickly to DVD or be bought by TV.
Dyan has a reported net worth of $16 million [though Celebrity Net Worth doesn’t say how much of that is Archie’s!] and IMDB credits her with 4 acting awards and 11 noms. Therefore it is unlikely she will ever make the cut in any revision of Bruce’s ranking lists [unless it’s on the strength of once being Mrs Al Leach – stranger things have happened!].
However as she has given me much entertainment on television and because of the longevity of her acting career which began on TV when she was just 21 way back in 1958 and is still active at her age of 82, she has earned her Cogerson page in my opinion.
Hey Bob. Thanks for the further comments on Ms. Dyan Cannon. She’s had a very solid career of far from one of the greatest of all time. So not thinking she will ever make one of those lists of the greatest actresses of all-time. I would bet that Jennifer Grant has a greater net worth than her mother. Seems Jennifer got the bulk of her dad’s estate. One of Dyan’s grandkids is named Cary Grant. I agree she has not been very active in movies for a long time. During her peak she was very popular, but sadly that peak turned out to be a short amount of time. Glad you have enjoyed her television work, I want to see if I can track those performances down. Thanks for the kind words and the great feedback.
HI BRUCE
Thanks for the feedback. Here’s what Celebrity Net Worth has to say about Jennifer Leach.
“Jennifer Grant net worth: Jennifer Grant is an American actress who has a net worth of $20 million. Jennifer Grant was born in Burbank, California in February 1966. Jennifer is the only child of actors Cary Grant and Dyan Cannon. She graduated from Stanford University and was left a large portion in dollars of her father’s estate when he died. “
HI JOEL
The opening paragraphs from your pupil are ambiguous, so does YOUR comment relate to Dyan or Gwyneth? [As if it matters!]
Hey Bob….it took me awhile to figure out what this comment meant….I have since figured it out…and you will see that error has been corrected.
“If I help her, she can be the biggest star in pictures but now, poor baby it is hit and miss.” These were ex-husband Cary Grant’s thoughts on Dyan Cannon, but he underestimated her talent and tenacity. Cannon has sex appeal and comic style, qualities that have been consistently evident since her first big success in 1969. – 1983’s Rating the Movie Stars
Her 4 star performances:
1969’s Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice
1971’s Such Good Friends
1978’s Heaven Can Wait
1982’s Deathtrap
I am always happy when I can get Joel’s wisdom on this website.
