  1. At the rate these Python stars profiles have been churned out there certainly will never be a Bruce Idle; and Eric Idle is the Monty Python associate least known to me.

I have seen Life of Joel and Shrek 3 but until WH gave us this new page I could not have told you Eric was involved with them; so thanks for the learning curve here Work Horse.

Building on the example set by Bruce I researched Eric further and find that Wikipedia gives us specifics of-

28 television productions that Eric has appeared in
4 video games that he has made
6 stage presentations he has been involved with.

For all those and his labours on the big screen he has a reported accumulated net worth of $60 million as assessed on 15 May last year. “Voted Up!” as an integral part of the Python Cogerson set and for bringing me additional knowledge.

    1. Hey Bob…thanks for the thoughts on Eric Idle. The first thing that really jumps out at me in your comment is his net worth. His 60 million is much more than John Cleese’s 10 million. I was watching an interview with Idle and Cleese….and they were picking on each other about their marriages. Idle has been married to the same lady since the 1960s…Cleese has been married 4 times since the 1960s….thinking that might be why their net worths are so far apart.

Good information on his television roles and other acting roles. For some reason he has always been my favorite Python…..he certainly seems like one of the nicer ones…but I could be basing that on his supporting role in European Vacation…in that one….no matter what Chevy Chase does to him…..Idle is always very forgiving. Thanks for the vote up.

  2. Hey Dan. Good information as always. Eric is way behind John in the Oracle rankings….but I Cleese and Idle are the only Pythons on the Oracle list. I think…though I am far from a Python expert….that Do Not Adjust Your Set is a show Chapman and Cleese enjoyed watching…and they called them up and said….let’s make a show together…and the rest is BBC history.

Cleese is easily the most frequent Oracle co-star for Idle…..which is what happened when looking at the Cleese connections…..as Idle was his most frequent Oracle co-star. 11 is a pretty low total for Oscar winning co-stars…but it is still 11 more than me…lol. As always, your efforts are greatly appreciated.

  3. I have the complete Monty Python TV series. I also have 2 series that were pre-cursers of the show. One is At Last the 1948 Show starring John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Marty Feldman and produced by David Frost, of which only 5 episodes exist. The 2nd series is Do Not Adjust Your Set starring Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and features animation by Terry Gilliam. Only 9 episodes of that show still exist.

Eric Idle is # 891 on the 2020 Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. These are the other actors on the list he appears with (some duplication with John Cleese).
