  1. HI STEVE: Thanks very much for the feedback and additional information.Things are going full circle for me. On my honeymoon in Dublin Southern Ireland in 1972 – nearly half a century ago! – we went to see The Godfather in what I think was the first week of its release in the UK and Ireland and it was then all the rage like a kid’s new toy with audiences and the Joel-types.

My 14 year old gransdon is into gangster movies at present and had just watched Heat and Goodfellows; so he asked me to download The Godfather and watch it with him which I did yesterday afternoon. Isn’t it almost scary to think that as a young newlywed 48 years ago I watched that movie for the first time and yesterday I saw it again in the company of a grandson who in 1972 was 34 away from even being born!

There were a couple of sex scenes in The Godfather which whilst tame today -some of your posters are more daring! – was probably considered risque back in 1972; but I can recall hearing just one swear word in the whole 3 hour film.

That’s not to say they didn’t privately do a lot of swearing behind the scenes. According to Godfather leading lady Diane Keaton the first time she had ever met The Great Mumbler was when on the set of the film and as they walked past each other in a corridor he didn’t stop but said to her “Hello big t**s!”

Today looking for example at Eva’s final quote and her “adult” language I think that a lot of these young
actresses must be having their scripts and interviews written for them by one of Hollywood’s Big Three swearers: De Niro/Willis/Pesci.

Anyway at my grandson’s request I have now downloaded Godfather 2 and we will watch it together next week. With DeNiro in it there may well be a lot of 4-letter words for ust ot ‘enjoy’ this time round unless they were able to restrain him back in 1974 when it was made. It’s so long since I’ve seen it that I can’t remember what kind of language they used in it.

Loved chatting with you but please continue to keep safe.

  3. GENERAL: Steve’s Eva Green video has been as said very timely for me as I am just about to watch Eva in the TV series The Luminaries. I also have this page of The Work Horse’s to fall back on as preparation for watching Eva for the first time. I commented on the page when Bruce brought it out last year. Anyway the video is pictorially revealing and stunning in many parts and it satisfies me to the tune of 99% despite its relative brevity. BEST POSTERS I think are:

    1/first one for Euphoria
    2/Elle
    3/two for Franklyn
    4/Womb
    5/Arsene Lupin

  4. LOOSELY-RELATED TRIVIA
***A spin-off series of Eva’s Penny Dreadful called Penny Dreadful: City of Angels starring sexy Natalie Dormer has just aired on television over here and W o Bob and I are currently watching it each week over 10 episodes. Natalie Dormer was previously wonderful as Anne Boleyn in The Tudors TV series 2007-2010 and others liked her in Game of Thrones.

If he hasn’t seen it STEVE would probably like Penny Dreadful as it has multiple themes described as “drama/horror/thriller/dark fantasy”. For example in the current spinoff Natalie Dormer can multiply herself into being her own young son who is seen keeping her company and then disappears again into her body when it is appropriate for him not to be seen.

Reportedly a couple of centuries ago serials were published in instalments of yarns involving these themes and they were hyped up as “dreadful” and each cost a penny in the money of the time. Hence the title of the TV series. Maybe years from now books containing critical reviews of movies and their stars will be known as “Joel Dreadfuls”

  5. I have seen NO Eva Green movies but she is currently in the 6-episode TV series The Luminaries [2020] which I have recorded for W o Bob and me to watch shortly. Steve’s video is therefore a useful and informative warm-up for my forthcoming first experience of Eva in a role. Eva has been in 2 other television series:

1/Camelot-10 episodes in 2011 [this series is covered in Steve’s video]

2/Penny Dreadful-26 episodes from 2014-2016 over 3 seasons. Eva received a Golden Globe nomination and a number of other noms for her performance in this series. See also Part 2

IMDB credits her with 5 acting awards and 22 noms and she has a reported current net fortune of $8 million. Eva has more goodies in store for STEVE because in the pipeline for her at pre-production stage is the sci-fi thriller “A Patriot” in Which top-billed Eva is all set to co-star with Helen Hunt and the [for my money] wonderful Charles Dance who has already co-starred with Eva in 2017’s Euphoria.
“Set in a futuristic authoritarian state, a loyal government official makes a startling discovery that causes her to doubt her allegiance.”

    1. Hi Bob, thanks for reviewing my Eva Green video, the generous rating (ooo), info and trivia are much appreciated. Happy you liked the picture gallery.

People are becoming more interested in an actor’s TV credentials than their theatrical output, who would have guessed? The worm has finally turned, TV has become big daddy and cinema is on the ropes, thanks to coronavirus and strong addictive bingeworthy TV shows.

Disney’s big expensive theatrical event movie remake thingy ‘Mulan’ is heading straight for streaming TV. Sad, I’m going to miss cinema, or am I overreacting?

On my channel just now someone wondered why I left out Eva Green’s tv show Penny Dreadful from the video. It’s my fault because i dropped in the miniseries Camelot to make a top 20 video for Eva.

There are no 10s or 9s from my sources, there are a bunch scoring 8 out of 10 including Casino Royale, The Dreamers and Kingdom of Heaven.

Casino Royale tops IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes, also Bruce’s critic and UMR charts.

Eva Green was fully naked for several scenes in her first movie, directed by Bernardo ‘Last Tango in Paris’ Bertolucci. And the unrated version is even naughtier.

“The sex scenes were quite full on and frank in The Dreamers. I am so reserved in real life, but I surprised myself completely. I was asked if I wanted some alcohol before some of the scenes – and admit that I did have some whiskey. There was a breaking of the ice before the sex scene. The actor Louis Garrel came into my trailer and said: ‘I will show you my d*ck if you show me your breasts.’ So I did – and he did. He said to me: ‘They look great.’ So when it came to the sex scenes, it made it a little easier.”
