Gary Oldman (1958-) is an English Oscar® winning actor.  Oldman first gained notoriety for playing punk rocker Sid Vicious in 1986’s Sid and Nancy.  Over the last 30 years Oldman has been one of the most productive and successful actors working in Hollywood.  His IMDb page shows over 87 credits from 1982-2017. This page ranks 44 Gary Oldman movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, video games, documentaries and movies not released in North America theaters were not included in the rankings.

Drivel part of the page:  Recently Cogerson Son #2 was over the house for a visit.  We were surprisingly talking about UMR.com (that was sarcasm)….when he noticed that we did not have a UMR page on Gary Oldman.  He said…”Hey Pops….I think you should do something about that.”.  So….since he suggested it and that Cogerson Daughter #1 really likes Gary Oldman (The 5th Element is one of her all-time favorites)…..we finally have taken the time and have written a page on Mr. Oldman.

  1. Easily the greatest actor to never win an Oscar. Even worse he only has one nomination. He was the best Dracula ever! So many great roles. An enjoyable read. You should do this on Michael Fassbender and Colin Firth.

    1. Hey MegaMind ….he is in the discussion for greatest actor without an Oscar. Glad you enjoyed it. Let’s see I already have a Fassbender page…but I will add Colin Firth to the request list.

  2. Nice page. Gary Oldman is aging very well for a guy born in 958. Love Gary Oldman, the man never gives the same performance. One day he will win an Academy Award.

    1. Hey Tammy….I see my mistake…thanks for the heads up. Though it would have been awesome if Oldman was 1058 years old…lol. I hope you are right that one day he will win an Oscar.

    1. Hey WoC….wow….such kind words from you….I humbly accept them….and say the same goes for you too. Thanks for checking out my latest page…..and actually reading it.

  3. Gary Oldman is an actor with an insane amount of good roles. I think that he should have many more nominations for acting than he has. I would have to say that my personal favorites would be his role in The Professional as well as his role in True Romance. It ain’t white boy day, is it?

    1. Hey Scotty….thanks for checking out your requested page. I agree with you…he has some great roles. My Top 10 would be…in no order….The Fifth Element, The Professional, True Romance, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Romeo is Bleeding, The Contender, JFK, State of Grace and Child 44.

Too bad Tiptoe did not get released in theaters….lol. His Drexl Spivey character in True Romance is very memorable…..thanks for the visit and the comment.

  4. Not surprised to see Batman at the top of the list, but surprised that The Fifth Element didn’t make the top ten! He doesn’t get credit for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? He was technically in that, although I’m not sure they used his real voice…. I also don’t think Paranoia was that bad of a movie, but they threw in Liam Hemsworth for us young people. Thanks for giving Gary the credit he deserves!!

    1. Hey Katie….sorry The Fifth Element did not do better….but it is still a great movie. As for the Harry Potter movies….I went with the ones that Box Office Mojo listed….the other Harry Potter movies went down as cameos….even if Oldman played a mean fire in one of those movies…lol.

Paranoia was ok….but with that cast…ok was not good enough. Oldman, Harrison Ford and Hemsworth…it should have been great….thanks for the suggested page.
