  1. Some of George’s direct to DVD films were not included in the rankings!. He died in 1992.

I have seen 37 of George’s movies listed. The highest ranked I haven’t seen is You’re a Sweetheart.

George was never on the Oracle of Bacon top 1000 having given up his promising career to be senator of California. I don’t know if he was the first thespian to go into politics. Charles Farrell who co-starred in a number of Janet Gaynor films was mayor of Palm Springs 1947 to 1955. Clara Bow’s husband, ex cowboy star Rex Bell was lieutenant governor of Nevada from 1955 to 1962. He had a heart attack whilst running for governor in 1964. And let’s not forget Mrs. Reagan’s little boy Ronnie.

George appeared with the following actors on the 2020 Oracle of Bacon list.

76 DEAN STOCKWELL The Arnelo Affair (1947)
154 MARC LAWRENCE After the Dance (1935)

    1. Hey Dan. I think you might be right, not thinking he made too many straight to DVD movies. I will fix that air in a minute. Tally count: You have destroyed me here, as I’ve only seen four of his movies. I’m actually not very aware of him at all. You’re 37 is easily the most, the floor has a good total of 16. He is certainly one of the first actors turn politician, though nowhere nearly as famous as Mr. Ronald Reagan. Both of the trivia list are pretty small, but not too bad for a guy that hasn’t made a movie and 70 years. As always you are the man.

  2. I have seen 17 George Murphy movies.

The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is Battleground.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is Little Miss Broadway.

The LOWEST rated movie I have seen is It’s A Big Country.

    Favourite George Murphy Movies:

    Battleground
    Broadway Melody of 1938
    Broadway Melody of 1940
    Border Incident
    Tenth Avenue Angel

    Other George Murphy Movies I Have Seen;

    For Me and My Gal
    Bataan
    Step lively
    Little Nelly Kelly
    A Girl, a Guy, and a Gob
    Broadway Rhythm
    Big City
    Letter of Introduction
    The Public Menace
    Two Girls on Broadway
    Having Wonderful Crime

    1. Hey Flora. As always your feedback is greatly appreciated. I am not seeing any of his movies, four to be precise. So you’re 17 seen is way more than me.But does trail Dan’s total of 37. The only one I’ve seen that you’ve seen is battleground. But I do not remember his part at all. I’m not even sure how I got to pick him as a subject, do I do know I wanted to get a classic page for you since I have not done one lately. As always good stuff.
