  1. Nice to see a page devoted to Ginger Rogers, most people only know her as Fred Astaire’s most famous dancing partner, not knowing she’s an Oscar-winning actress too. I’ve seen 15 of the 54 films you’ve listed, not as many as I thought.
I bought the two Fred & Ginger DVD box sets a couple of years ago. She was funny in Monkey Business with Cary Grant and Marilyn Monroe. I still haven’t seen Weekend at the Waldorf, didn’t know it was that popular.
Kitty Foyle no.1 on the moviescore but all the way down on the critics and box office charts, something not quite right there.
    Voted Up.

    1. Hey Steve….I think I wrote a Fred Astaire page about 3 or 4 years ago….shame on me for not doing a Ginger Rogers page earlier. Wow I am at 18 Ginger Rogers movies watched. I am shocked that I am ahead of you in the tally count.

Week-end at the Waldorf was the 51st biggest box office hit of the entire 1940s…and the 1940s were the peak of people going to theaters to see movies.

Kitty Foyle was her 14th biggest box office hit and got the 18th best reviews of her career…..where Kitty Foyle excelled was the Best Picture Oscar nom and the Best Actress Oscar for Rogers. Thanks for checking out my Ginger Rogers page.

  2. This is an awesome Ginger Rogers birthday present. Thanks for sharing the link on IMDB. I enjoyed looking at the stats but Stage Door in 11th place? Not sure I agree with that at all. Happy Birthday to Ginger Rogers.

    1. Hey PM1954…..good timing on my part…..I did not realize today was her birthday until reading your comment….she was born 104 years ago today….pretty cool. I agree Happy Birthday to Ginger Rogers.

  3. Thank you for my requested Ginger Rogers movie page well worth the wait! I really enjoyed checking out this page. Lots of interesting stuff. The most surprising to me was that Weekend at the Waldrof was her biggest hit and that only one Fred and Ginger movie cracked the overall Top 5. I do not think The Groom Wore Spurs is a good movie but I do not think it is her worst movie it does have a few funny moments. Once again thanks for doing this page and one that I will return to many many times.

    1. Hey Timlin33….you are welcome….sorry it took so long….I thought about listed when the requests came…but I think it would be depressing to see just how long it takes to do some of these requests. Week-end at the Waldorf was a huge hit for her…it was actually one of the biggest hits of the entire 1940s…..and that is when movies were at their peak! I think the fact that her Top 10 is not filled with Fred and Ginger movies goes to show that her career after Fred was pretty stout. If you look at my Fred Astaire page…..you will see that only one Fred/Ginger movie made his Top 5 as well. https://www.ultimatemovierankings.com/fred-astaire-movies/

As for The Groom Wore Spurs…it did not do well in any of the categories used in my scoring system…it got the 53rd best reviews…..it was her 53rd biggest hit…..out of 54 movies….and it did not get any award recognition….put all of that together and you end up with a movie that has a pretty low UMR rating. Glad you will be returning for repeat visits.

        1. Thanks…..but I will try and improve the time between when a request comes in and when a request is completed.

  4. I saw Ginger Rogers when I was about 8 when she was in the play Hello Dolly. Her performance blew me away. It was years later that I realized she was famous before her Hello Dolly performance. Wonderful wonderful look at the career of one of my all time favourites.

    1. Hey Vivacious Lady….I read about her Hello Dolly performances….so I think it is very cool that you actually got to see that in person….and even cooler is the fact that it turned you into a Ginger Rogers fan. Thanks for checking out my Rogers movie page…it is greatly appreciated.

  5. I have seen a few of the above movies but seen so many scenes where she and Fred Astaire are dancing. She was a good dancer and they made a good team. Interesting that she was married five times and no children. I believe that Kitty Foyle was a drama if I am remembering correctly and I enjoyed her in that film – a love story. TCM has a lot of good old movies though sometimes they are really old – in fact they had a short of a silent film on tonight – I watched for about 30 seconds…Thanks for another great feature about a good movie star. I wonder if your oldest daughter even knows who she is. THANK YOU.

    1. Hey BERN1960…..thanks for such a quick response to my latest movie page. I think scenes of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are seen all the time. From movies link The Green Mile to commericals to documentaries. Kitty Foyle was a very serious drama…and won her the Oscar for Best Actress…..the one and only time that she got an Oscar nomination. Five failed marriages….that had to be more than a little depressing for her. I doubt Katie knows who Ginger Rogers is….but I am sure she will see the Facebook and Twitter and feeds out there….so just maybe so of it will register with her. Thanks as always for the comment and the visit.
