Want to know the best Goldie Hawn movies?  How about the worst Goldie Hawn movies?  Curious about Goldie Hawn box office grosses or which Goldie Hawn movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Goldie Hawn movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

When I was growing up Goldie Hawn (1945-) was one of the most popular actresses working.  In 1972 and 1981 she made the list of Top Ten Box Office Stars.  Hawn’s movies have grossed over $2 billion in adjusted domestic box office.  I have very fond memories of seeing Foul Play (1978) in theaters.  The theater was packed…the movie provided loud roars of laughter and had enough suspense to keep the audience on the edge of their sits.  It was truly a great movie experience!   We feel it was finally time to give her some Ultimate Movie Rankings love…..plus she was on our Request HotLine.

Her IMDb page shows 35 acting credits since 1967. This page will rank Goldie Hawn movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings.  To do well in our rankings a movie has to do well at the box office, get good reviews by critics, be liked by audiences and get some award recognition.

  1. 1 With an adjusted domestic gross of around $2.4 billion averaging at about $85 million per movie Goldie’s domestic box office has not been vertiginous compared with the likes of for example Julia Roberts. However her screen career from 1968 onward has had fine longevity and although her big star days seemed to end with First Wives’ Club in 1996 she was around 50 when she made that and has since soldiered on with sporadic releases and in fact Snatched now in post-production will be out in May next year when she will be over 70.

2 Also her 11 Cogerson 100 million crashers were solid to large hits and they had a good spread across the 27 years from 1969-1996 so she can be said to have remained bankable for about 30 years. Accordingly her ranking of 24th in Bruce’s Top 25 actresses 1950-2010 does in my opinion accurately reflects her box office contribution in that period.

3 There’s a Girl in My Soup was very fashionable with certain sections of cinema goers around 1970 over here and was the 7th most popular film at the British box office that year and the adjusted US gross of some $85 million is in line with the respectable and compact commercial success that I had envisaged that movie having had in the States Goldie was noted almost entirely for her comedy roles but I most enjoyed her in the modest Hitchcock-type thriller Deceived in 1991, although Bruce has not rated it very highly. I have welcomed this page and its update as a fitting tribute to an actress who played a good part in the development of the cinema over the past half century.

    1. Hey Bob
      1. I agree her output has been surprising pretty slight….especially considering how long her career has been.
      2. As for Snatched….the first trailer looked horrible……but her co-star seems pretty hot right now….so maybe it will be a hit….but based on that trailer makes it look more like a Golden Raspberry Winner than a Box Office Winner.
      3. I think my inclusion of Goldie on my Top 25 was one of Steve’s issues….but I think she is a good pick…as you say….her long career and being an Oscar winner goes a long way….plus for a good ten year run…she was the Queen of Hollywood….heck if you think about Julia Roberts’ run….it was about the same amount of time.
      4. I thought Deceived was ok….and generally critics and audiences agree with me….but I can see you liking it….as they say ……beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Goldie Hawn.

  2. Hey, what was the movie in Position 8??? I have enjoyed her movies – I remember her in Laugh-In – she was really good on that show. It would be good to see her and Kurt Russell in a movie once again. Thanks for all the information..,.I have enjoyed her movies.

    1. Hey Bern1960…..movie number 8 is $ (Dollars)….it’s IMDb title is $. It was the first Hawn/Warren Beatty movie. Laugh-In made her a star. I agree 100% one more Kurt and Goldie movie would be awesome. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  3. One of my favorite celebrities! Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson are my favorite celebrity mother/daughter! My favorite Goldie movie is Overboard with her honey, Kurt Russell…30 years! Wow! I knew it was a long time, but not that long. Good for them! My favorite Kate movie is Almost Famous. I must have seen both of those movies over ten times, if not more! Awesome tribute to Goldie Hawn! 🙂 I did not know that Wyatt was in 22 Jump Street…maybe I will watch those movies one day, but I will NOT compare them to Johnny Depp and 21 Jump Street! 🙂

    1. Hey Sunshine….glad you found my new website again. Looks like you are a big fan of the Hawn/Hudson/Russell family. Using my Cogerson approach (merging the three names) to coming up with a name….they could be the Hallson or Huwnell or Ruwson family. I like that Kurt and Goldie have been a couple for so long. I love them in Overboard. Wyatt plays the college football player in 22 Jump Street…..he looks just like his dad in that one. He was three movies coming next year….maybe one of them will hit it big. Thanks for the comment….it is greatly appreciated.

  4. Hi

I thought that was really cool, the idea of Goldie being in the same class as Sylvester Stallone. I wonder what he was doing when she won her first Oscar in 1970, thinking that could be me someday perhaps.
Goldie has been a fantastic comedienne over the years, my favourite movie being The House sitter. Her and Steve Martin had great chemistry. The scene when Martin sings to his father at the party is so funny. I remember going to see Private Benjamin, it was a massive hit at the time. Although it has dated quite a lot on recent viewing. Death Becomes Her is also a very good watch.
I seen Sugar-land Express years ago but I remember really enjoying it. Alas she hasn’t done too much lately. I think at one time she was supposed to be in Chicago. Interestingly had she of been in Kramer vs Kramer, would we have ever heard of Meryl Streep?… Probably.
    PS. I mean that kindly.

    1. Hey Goldie Hawn….thanks for checking out your page. I am sure Hawn’s success help keep Sly focused…I am sure at some point he said….”if she can do it then I can do it”. Hawn and Martin had great chemistry in two movies…though I think Housesitter was easily the better of the two. I agree with you 100% about Private Benjamin…it is very very dated…but she is still good in the movie. Death Becomes Her is one of my favorite Hawn movies…and one I can watch on a regular basis….it joins Seems Like Old Times and Overboard as ones I like to watch every few years. Yep Hawn not making Kramer vs Kramer might have been one of Streep’s biggest breaks.
They (Hawn & Streep) have been friends for years. When they decided they wanted to make a movie together…they almost made Thelma and Louise…instead they picked Death Becomes Her instead.. Greatly appreciate your comment.

  5. Lots of facts about Goldie Hawn I never knew here Bruce, good work. Classmates with Stallone, whoa! Not the biggest fan I’m afraid, I’ve only sen 7 of the 28 films you’ve listed here. I’ve never seen her biggest hit, Private Benjamin, but I did see her highest rated, Sugarland Express, which I’ve noticed didn’t even make the top 10 on the Moviescore chart.
I did like the black comedy Death Becomes Her, own it on DVD. Bird on a Wire wasn’t one of Mad Mel’s best actioners. I see you and Flora easily beat my score, oh well.

    1. Hey Steve….yep you finished in 3rd place in the tally count…18 to 14 to 7. Sugarland Express got great reviews….but Spielberg was one movie away from legendary status…so Sugarland pretty much got ignored at the box office. Jaws would make sure that was something Spielberg would never have to worry about again. I enjoy Death Becomes Her as well….although I think Hawn has the 3rd best part behind…Streep and Willis. As always….thanks for stopping by.
