Hey Aaron. Halloween 2 is getting some respect. I saw that in theaters….there is a scene in the movie that follows a nurse driving to a hospital….when she gets out of the car and shuts the car door….the camera focuses on her driver’s side mirror…the side mirror shows that Michael had been in the sitting in the back seat the whole time. That image stuck with me for a very very long time.
The only one I haven’t seen on that chart is the new one, which is opening huge according to Hollywood Reporter. Horror films are generally cheap to make, especially these slasher films which don’t require optical or CG effects. So you can imagine the profit the studios can make on them.
My favorites are the first three, after that you can hardly tell one from the other. Looking at my DVD files I bought the 1st, 2nd, 7th and 8th in this franchise. I didn’t like the Rob Zombie reboot.
Would have been better if John Carpenter had directed the new one, but he did work on the music. (Carpenter composed the original iconic theme)
Vote Up!
Hey Steve…..thanks for checking out our Halloween page. I am shocked that Halloween is so close to breaking the October record for opening….though I bet it falls just short of Venom’s record. I have seen 3 of the 5 JLC ones, the Paul Rudd one and Season of the Witch. So my tally is 5 to your 10. I will see the new version…but it will be months from now. It is good see John Carpenter getting some attention. He created one memorable character in Michael Myers. Love the Halloween theme…one of the best known movie themes ever! Good feedback.
My Top 3:
Halloween (1978)
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Halloween H20
Hey bobbydallas good top 3…this of course has me wondering if you saw the new one yet?
Mine would be:
1. Halloween (1978)
2. Halloween II (1981)
3. Halloween (2018)
4. H20
5. Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch
6. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
7. Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers
8. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
9. RZ’s Halloween
10. Halloween: Resurrection
11. RZ’s Halloween 2
Hey SoCrates….not too far off…the Top 4 is the same. I think John Carpenter would be proud of all the call backs in the new version that is breaking box office records this weekend. Thanks for your rankings.
Hey.
Yeah, he should be proud because I think they did a really good job.
JC also killed it with the score and music selection.
The music is classic…almost up there with John Williams’ Jaws theme.
Its a freaking Blockbuster!
80 Million + OW…..
Michael Myers has never been even been 1/4 of that draw before this…
forget Sequel, you can just go ahead and guarantee a Trilogy at least….
This film is going to be one of the most successful films of the year….Considering the extremely small 15 Million dollar Budget
were Looking a total gross close to over 200 Million domestically….
Hard telling where it will end up overseas but I’m guessing somewhere between 100 to 150
Hey bill b. I agree with you 100%……though I wonder how many movies will get the benefit of Jamie Lee Curtis in future movies.
Started a Halloween marthon this morning. Watched just the 4 Jamie Lee Curtis movies at home and then saw a 4:30 showing of Halloween. Scared the crap out of me, first half is as scary as the original and best. Second half gets a little gory but still good. Jamie Lee rocks. Totally agree with the Top 3.
Hey Tauritz…I love the idea of a Jamie Lee Curtis Halloween Movie Marathon….especially when it ends up at a movie theater on the first day of release. Thanks for the mini-review and liking our rankings. Thanks for the visit and the comment….both are greatly appreciated.
