Seriously though overall these stats are astonishing in their magnitudes and faithfully and deservedly reflect all the time, effort, care, dedication and love that has gone into the maintenance and expansion of the site throughout 2022 as it was in previous years.
Mind you I see a bit of ‘reflected glory’ for myself in all of this. After all I was the one who christened Bruce himself The Work Horse, after getting his permission to do so and along with other nicknames such as The Big Guy, WH (for Work Horse of course) and Joel Junior-
and my observation has thus been vindicated by the volume of highly-informative material that is now before us, built up over the years on top of a demanding day job, raising a family – and not to mention writing 4 valuable movie text books with possibly a 5th on the way.
So congratulations Team Cogerson on another successful year. What you have created is a wonderful testament to one American family and its work ethic. And thanks WH for the New Year greetings
Hey Bob….thanks for all of the kind words. I bet I have looked at Joel’s book only two or three times the entire 2022 year. As for a 5th book? Yep there is one coming…just not sure which direction I want to go…happy to say Book4…sold the best, and it is the one I am happiest with. We hope you have an awesome 2022.
Interesting summary of the statistical year at UMR – though the great magnitude of the increase in comments received is curious: I mean who wants to be told in a reply that they have got it all wrong and that for the CORRECT take on a movie or star they should check out a 1983 book called Rating the Movie Stars?
For that matter does anyone need to be misled by hype about how great a box office champ Myrna Loy was because she appeared for the most part in Other People’s Films if I may paraphrase DeVito’s 1991 Larry the Liquidator?
In fact for a none-gaslighted summary of Miss Loy’s perceived status at even her own studio back in her times, I would refer you to Bruce’s Melvyn Douglas page which states at Possibly Interesting Fact No 8:
“8. Melvyn Douglas and billing. Douglas – “Well, Freddie Bartholomew had first billing in Captains Courageous and that drove Spencer Tracy mad. I was billed fourth – and couldn’t have cared less. Joan Crawford once explained to me she was over Clark Gable and William Powell but under Norma Shearer. Powell was under Jean Harlow but ABOVE Bob Montgomery and [bottom of the pecking order] Myrna Loy. Are you still with me?”
I mean Brando was publicly praised by George W Bush an American President; my Deanna was the sweetheart of the great British War Leader and hero Sir Winston Churchill; whereas Myrna was the idol of John Dillinger, a gangster – says it all, doesn’t it?
Hey Bob. First of all, Happy New Year. Always a good start of the year when you can get a jab of M. Loy in….lol. The comments were actually down in 2022. I blame myself for being less present than in previous years. Good feedback as always,
HI BRUCE:
Glad as always to receive your feedback.
My “kind words” as you express it were not hyperbole. Honour where honour is due as for years now I have enjoyed your site not ony for what it provides directly in its own right but also for the spin-offs that I derive from it.
By the latter I mean of course my private movie exercises which frankly I could not do without “Cogerson”. As I love doing them I am in practice in and out of your pages and books like a yo-yo virtually every day.
Looks as if I am going to be even busier when Book 5 arrives!
COGERSON:

“My Pupil My Pupil why have thou forsaken me?”
Hey Bob….glad the new year is starting off well for you. Sadly my 10 day school break is rapidly approaching the end. Tack on some doctor appointments….the next week or two will be much more stressful that the holiday season was. Good feedback.
