Want to know the best Harold Ramis movies? How about the worst Harold Ramis movies? Curious about Harold Ramis’ box office grosses or which Harold Ramis movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Harold Ramis movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.
It is a very sad day today. A couple of hours ago my son told me that Harold Ramis (1944-2014) had passed away. I have always been fascinated with Harold Ramis. I first realized he existed when I saw him and Bill Murray in the comedy hit Stripes. After Stripes…Ramis directed National Lampoon’s Vacation with Chevy Chase. Sometime shortly after these two movies were registering with me…I realized that Ramis had done a voice part in Heavy Metal and had written the screenplays for Animal House and Meatballs.
So in 1983…he had written four hit movies, starred in one hit and directed one hit movie. A pretty impressive resume. Then 1984 came and Harold Ramis became a household name with his performance (and screenplay) in Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters became one of the biggest box office hits in history. Over the next 30 years Ramis wrote, directed, and acted in many movies. The list of box office hits is impressive…..but his mastepiece in my opinion is 1993’s Groundhog Day. Can it really be 21 years since Groundhog Day hit theaters? I have never come across anybody that does not like Groundhog Day….and it gets better every year. Although my favorite Ghostbuster has passed away, I like knowing that he has left behind many great movies. Rest in Peace Mr. Ramis…you will be missed. Written on 2/24/2014.

Yes, I saw that he had died on the internet this morning. I have seen some of his movies and my favorite one was Ghostbusters. That was a great movie. Baby Boom was good though in the movie he was not interested in babies. Sorry that he has passed too.
Thanks BERN1960…it is a sad day indeed
Thanks Steve. I have seen 27 of these movies…and many numerous times.
RIP Harold Ramis. Nice tribute Bruce. He was involved with so many comedy classics. Groundhog Day has to be one of the greats. Animal House and Ghostbusters are films I have watched countless times.
I’ve seen 17 of the 27 films you’ve listed, 10 from the box office 10, and 9 from the critics 10. Have not seen Walk Hard.
Rest in Peace. Harold Ramis.
