Want to know the best Henry King movies? How about the worst Henry King movies? Curious about Henry King box office grosses or which Henry King movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Henry King movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences and which got the worst reviews? Well, you have come to the right place…. because we have all of that information and much more.
Henry King (1886-1982) was an Oscar nominated American director. For more than three decades, Henry King was the most versatile and reliable (not to mention hard-working) contract director on the 20th Century-Fox lot. His tenure lasted from 1930 to 1961, spanning most of Hollywood’s “golden” era. His IMDb pages shows 116 directing from 1913 to 1962. This page will rank Henry King movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. To do well in the rankings, a movie needed to do well at the box office, be liked by both critics and audiences and earn some award recognition. With the exception of 1930’s The Eyes of the World every one of Henry King’s “talkies” is listed in the rankings. Sadly, many of his silent films did not make the following tables.

I liked Henry King as a director. Haven’t seen all his films but I did enjoy such films as A YANK IN THE RAF, LlOYDS OF LONDON, THE SONG OF BERNADETTE and CAROUSEL. Surprised this is the first post about Mr. King. He wasn’t Hitchcock, Cukor, or John Ford but he did make some memorable films in my opinion.
